CarrionCrow: Savor it while you can. Every once in a while it bubbles up through the silly crap.
Not often, mind you....-laughs-
Four whole cents, eh? Someone's college fund is getting larger by the second with such an increase....-giggles-
Talk about silly shit. Any idea why they've decided to add on such a charge?
EndreWhiteMane: It's called a "Cross border transaction assessment" so a foreign purchase charge of some sort I suppose.
That's disgraceful and clearly made up, since there is no currency exchange involved. Paypal used to charge me a few cents for that, when GOG only listed prices in dollars. I sighed, and accepted it grdudgingly. It's one of the reasons I accepted without much fuss (even welcomed, to a point) the arrival of other currencies.
They could argue that they have to deal with a foreign bank and that's what causes the charges, but since it's only started recently, it's obviously something they pulled out of their ass.
Back when I was young, I remember banks fighting fiercely to attact customers. Advertising interest rates in their accounts as high as 10% for depositing about the equivalent of 50K dollars. There was still a lot of money kept under the mattress back then, which the banks wanted people to bring out.
Nowadays they already have all our money.
Look at me going on about the good old days and ranting about banks. I'll get a walking stick next.
