tinyE: Has anyone ever gotten a call to tell them they had a virus on their computer?
Yep I laughed at them when they told me that and said that the reason was that I was a not experienced computer user. And then I hung up the phone.

Not me personally, but I know people who have... just tell them you'll put them on to your IT manager, scares the shit out of them ;)

EBToriginal: Past couple days have been pretty decent. Just one day's work from having the longest thing I've ever written in my hands. And I got new screens in finally too. Hugs for all!
That is good to hear *return hug*

gunsynd: Most bullshit programs will say that, just to get you to purchase their program...

tinyE: Well the guy had me going through my system and getting pissier pissier but never pushing any hardware or downloads on me so I stayed with him.

Eventually he was having me bring up was seemed to be a log of some sort from my START/Computer/Management file when he asked, "How long has your computer been having this problem?"

I said it doesn't have a problem, it's running fine.

He then yelled at me, "Well obviously it's not!" At which point I told him to go back to India and I hung up.
On the phone,India, yep a definite scam of some sort...Get 'em all the time,on different things.
I try to keep personal info on PC to minimum...
So I don't need to be worried? Because he never actually tried to sell me something I'm wondering if there might actually be something on here.

BTW thanks everyone for helping me out here. I realize you all probably have better things to do. :D

As long as you didn't visit any website and download something imagine you'll be fine. They're generally relying on making gullible people perform some sort of random test to scare them there is something wrong and then download something harmful.

tinyE: Has anyone ever gotten a call to tell them they had a virus on their computer?
He called you on the phone? How would he have gotten that number?
I have emailed people to tell them that but only if I received an infected email from them first.
I have a lot of fun with the scammers after being in that field most of my life. :-)

Correct...
How many times during this sale have you said to yourself:
"Gee, I already own that, I should play it some day."
I'm up to about 60. :-)
Good afternoon/evening/morning, everyone. =)

Wasn't even trying to, but ended up asleep again. And now my frigging neck doesn't want to move properly. Hooray.

Hopefully you're all doing better than that. -laughs-
