This tells us literally nothing.

What game, what controller, what OS, what is the current phase of the moon? (You can exempt that last one.)

Put the plug in again.

If the controller is wireless: check the batteries.

And the controller is .... ?

If it's one for the new XBox or Playstation generation, you most likely need a wrapper to convert the signals to a older standard (usually DirectInput)
