wow reading some of these, it's really shown me how hard it is to try and get the proper beat off the written lyrics, especially if they're not strictly written to the beat on the video. so, I've taken a cue from some people and tried to add formatting to show the way the words fit into the rhyme. it's just mainly to get the point across though.
bold is a syllable that's emphasized, and italics are ones that are particularly not emphasized (quick). something in asterisks is said between the end of the measure and before the next one. you can figure it out.
two zero zero eight
and with it we'll begin our tale of something called gog
a place and a community, a vision through a fog
that's clouded up the industry for many many years
and hasn't done us much but make us shed a lot o' tears
Interplay and Codemasters, two of the first
supporting an experiment, no fear of any detriment
with roots back in Poland, yeah a decade ago
CD PROJEKT's project was a hit from the go
but back to the future, like the telltale games
gog wasn't playin, just succeeding and stayin
but ah the second year, y'know they hit a little bump
it wasn't well received, that little marketing stunt
*but let* bygons be bygons, small misunderstandings
if you're worried, keep duke and your gogbook handy
you can read it by torchlight, deep in the night
or have system shock 2 give you one hell of a fright
I get ahead of myself, so let's get back to my tale
gog dreamed of adding in a little more for sale
they were playin Win Commander at the old game thing
but still sharp enough to know to keep evolva-ing
and evolve they did, they brought in fresh new plays
so come and grab your indies and a bunch of AAA's
where else can you see assassins creed alongside?
hitman and splinter cell, to show them how to hide?
take your wings to the air as the dragon commander
or forget about the air, and play wing commander
and the most important thing is that the fog I talked about
is no where to be found, no trace or doubt
that fog, sad to say we know as DRM by name
and it's just too common having it polluting up our games
but not here on gog, nosiree
six-hundred plus games and all of it fog-free
two zero one three, system shock reemerged
and torchlight was unleashed upon an unsuspecting world
for 6 or 10 bucks you can grab yourself a game
with plenty of sales to keep your wallet free of pain
and here we are celebrating 5 on the gog train
congratulations gog, here's to 5 more and then some
oh yeah.. one more thing, I guess I forgot to mention
Happy Birthday GOG :)
also after I had it written I realized it was too long for your beat in the video. so I wasn't sure how that go and so to be sure as not to disqualify myself I made one that matches the video. it's mostly the same just trimmed a bit and changed a bit to make way for the trim.
