Hello there,

I seriously haven't found any useful resource of command line arguments (as start options) for the Galaxy client and thus, need help ASAP.

For example, I would like to change the .exe in order to start a game from a different exe than before.

Help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Using a different exe isn't possible through GOG Galaxy. That is, it's not officially supported exactly. You can do it, I have for Arx Fatalis (The Arx Libertatis mod). But it involves editing the galaxy files within the game folder.
There is a thread about adding non-GOG games to Galaxy in order to use it as a launcher. I would assume you could use information from there to modify how existing games are launched as well.

Take care, though, to turn off auto-updating of that game, as Galaxy will otherwise overwrite your changes.
Thanks for the replies so far.

Okay I know there is some kind of trick in renaming an .exe file into the usually executed one (I did this before), but I still have to figure out which file Galaxy uses.

And which arguments can even be used in the command line, then?

As far as I know, you don't tell Galaxy which executable to run through command-line arguments, rather you tell it which game to run (which game id), Galaxy then looks in the info file for said game to see what the executable is called.

The link I gave tells how to modify said info file (or create new ones) to run the executable you want.

As far as the command-line argument to launch a certain game, you shouldn't need more than what's in the shortcuts Galaxy creates on your desktop or in your start menu.

Okay, I will look into it.

But with my question ("Which cmd arguments even work") I rather meant what kind of arguments actually can be used as start parameters / launch options.

Afaik there are no parameters at all that are known to run Galaxy in a specific way (at least I never read anything about those). It's possible to add launch parameters to specific games though. The parameters that can be used here of course depend on the game in question.

A very usefull resource:
GOG.com Galaxy closed alpha1
GOG GALAXY BETA
http://mantis.gog.com

Can't help you much more than that, I have switched to Linux long time ago. Only /runWithoutUpdating comes to my mind but there was more..

You shouldn't rename the .exe if you can avoid it, it will break some games. I am not at home, so I can't look at my files to show which I edited and how, but if you have patience, I'll be able to tell you in about 6 hours.
No problem, no hurries. :)

Actually, I copied the mod over the game since the game files were identical except the added items. But if you edit the goggame- <gameid>.info (use notepad or notepad++)file there is an entry called path. You can change the file in that and it may work. I seem to remember having a hell of a time with it though and that's why I pasted the mod over the game.
