Reminds me, for some reason, of an oldie I used to play decardes ago, called Spaceward Ho!.

Maybe this, from the wiki:

"Depending on the initial settings, games take from about ten minutes to an hour. So the game is fast paced like FTL? I hope it's not as painfully difficult as FTL. I always got torn to pieces when I reach final phase in FTL.
