LordCephy: Would you say that it is still worth getting Mary Skelter: Nightmares considering that the GOG page mentions that Mary Skelter 2 comes with the remake version of the first game?

Also a heads up: avoid the music intro that appears before the start menu in MS2. The more I played the game and saw that intro, the more I noticed how much it spoils the entire game, even though I didn't understand Japanese. (kinda sad tbh, since I like the rhythm of the music)
Thank you very much!! I had the original in my shopping cart due to the Winter Sale and wasn't sure if it would be better to wait for the remake. What you described reminds me of Persona 3 FES and Persona 3 Portable, which are fundamentally the same game in terms of plot yet different enough in how they play that it is worth having both. :)
Still have yet to play the first game. Maybe I should?

(I did try installing it on the 3 x86 computers I have, and it runs on my big laptop but not my desktop or small laptop.)
Put this on my wishlist then promptly removed it since it will almost certainly be censored. Someone on steam was defending censorship but didn’t realize steam tracks the playtime of beta testers. They were outed as a beta tester of this game - a bad sign that this game is indeed censored.
The news and then this thread has been a wild ride of emotion.

On one hand, thank you GOG and Iffy for bringing this here!

On the other...
I really enjoyed the first game, and wanted to see the full trilogy on GOG. But... I wanted it intact and how the creators' originally envisioned their work. Not stripped down because a busybody decided what adults should and shouldn't see.

Fuck censorship. :(

Hate censorship, but that Aquarium Ruins level looks cool.
Have the first game. Not yet touched it. Is it censored?.

Why on earth is the second game uncensored on Switch, yet from what everyone says it will be censored on PC?. Where is the logic?.

First game is not censored on PC, no, and it was also published by Ghostlight, which makes their apparent decision to censor the second game all the more outrageous.

Nothing confirmed yet, but by what some users reported in the Steam forum of the game, the chance of it being censored is worryingly high.

A few reasons, probably:
First, Idea Factory seems to be slowly becoming pro-censorship, probably so they can keep releasing on Sony's consoles.
Second, as they themselves publicly stated when they decided to "decensor" Death End re;Quest 2, they only keep one build of their projects (or at least they did for DERQ2), and they wouldn't have the resources to do much more.
Third, add Ghostlight in the formula and you have a disaster, as, from what I could gather, they often license the censored builds of games they publish.

I think you don't understand the situation .

From the view of a publisher : you can sell more copies to a wider audience in more countries if the game censored .

Honestly, probably because Ghostlight is lazy. You see, they had to censor the first game for the Chinese market. Unfortunately when they did so they screwed the game up so bad that the Chinese version is unplayable to this day. So rather than port the Switch version and then censoring it for China later and likely screwing it up, they'll port the PS4 version which is already censored for everybody and works fine. Doesn't excuse it but that is probably the biggest reason.
On one side I am happy that the game release on Gog is confirmed... but on the other side there is a huge chance it will end up being censored. And it's bad enough if it's censored but that the devs is not being upfront about it and looks the other way when asked if it's censored or not adds insult to injury.
Well, I already beat it on Switch, so it's late enough to PC that I'm in "sale only" territory to begin with.

If it's censored as well it'll end up being a hard pass, despite it coming to GOG, which gives it bonus points over a Steam release.
Bought the first here. Wishlisted, will buy if uncensored, skip if not.

No need to "censor it for China later." They could simply port the uncensored Switch version and then not bother to sell it in China if China demands that it be censored in order to be sold there.

Ghostlight apparently censoring MS 2 is totally inexcusable.
