TheGrimLord: I always play the version with the original Japanese VA and this one should be no exception.
Ancient-Red-Dragon: I've played a lot of Japanese games with good English dubs (granted they weren't AO games). There is nothing that automatically makes Japanese dubs of those games be better (although they probably are in a lot of cases).
A good English VA could do just as good, or better, of a job with the material as a Japanese VA could.
So if there is bad voice acting in the English dub, then it's due to the publisher cutting corners somewhere; it's not due to good English VA being impossible to implement in a Japanese-made game.
Granted, I would give JAST USA some slack on that subject, since they are a small niche publisher, so I would understand if they have to hire super cheap and therefore not-so-good English VAs, if that's what's causing the problems.
On the other hand, if the bad VAs they are hire are equally as expensive to hire as would be the good VAs who they could be hiring instead for the same amount of money, then that would be a problem worth complaining over.
But I'm not sure how that works, and I don't know if there are low rent VAs who are known to do a bad job but who work for cheaper than expensive but high quality VAs; or alternatively, do all VAs, good and bad, cost the same amount of money to hire?
I'm inclined to agree that English VA' s can do a great job. I just prefer my visual novels in Japanese, though oddly enough not JRPG's. I know, it's weird.
Reaper9988: I don't have the slightes clue, why the west does rule these things out. (Grid girls I assume you mean ?)
Our morals, especially in the last years have become even more prudish, superficial and hypocritical.
Still, these characters aren't real and the game is not supposed to be played by children, hence the ratings.
Long long ago Parents took responsibility for their children instead of trying to get everything banned.
Zimerius: Personally, i believe these are positive steps made towards a better tomorrow. ;-) Next we will see the clothing rules for beach volleyball change. Camera positions during sporting events that try to picture athletes without defining their bodily features will change, too. Less sexuality in music clips (though I really wonder if that will ever happen) and, of course, less sexualization in the society as a whole.
This much to protect some minority groupings that have just as much right to walk the face of the Earth as everyone else, to create a healthier environment that knows less visual triggers. And to abide by the 'woken' revolution mindset.
Most of those changes are made to products or behaviour that have their grounds in a time when the Alpha male ruled the Earth. Now you see woman struggling with their learned behaviour about that, the only way to attract males is to be seductive, and males of course as well. At least, in the countries that don't have the biggest percentage of their population living in poverty.
Some things probably will never change, especially if being on the top means that you must be able to withstand the emotional equivalent of a hurricane. And with down always looking up to the top.....
No sir, you're just promoting moral authoritarianism. Look, I don't like woke shit either. At all. But you're just as bad. What people need is the freedom to be an individual. If you want to get into adult stuff, it is your choice. If not, that is also your choice. That should be a basic human right, not one side saying "you should do as I say for a better tomorrow." These are the words of an authoritarian. You are more than welcome to start your own area of the world where you can pursue these aims and allow others who agree to join you. But you do not dare make this the norm. I do not agree with social authoritarianism on the left, nor moral authoritarianism on the right. There needs to be a level of balance. This is never achieved by tipping the scale towards one side, even if you believe it is the best outcome for all. To each his own, let every man have his own choice to pursue that which aligns with his will.
