Dark_art_: IMHO "devs" are the single ones who have a say in how a game should be played.
I disagree. The users should have a say, especially when it comes to accessibility issues or the mods that people want to make. There's no reason that one shouldn't, say, be allowed to play a randomized version of Hollow Knight, or to fight a version of Grimm that has infinite health. (There are mods for both of them, and in the latter case, you are scored by how much damage you manage to do before you die.)

Dark_art_: I like options but some games are not worth playing just for the sake of playing (EG Celeste, Super Meat Boy, Spelunky and the list goes on), dificulty is what makes the game good.
If you feel that difficulty is what makes the game good, feel free to play it on the hardest difficulty setting you can manage.

(Worth noting that Celeste does have an Assist Mode which can make the game easy or even trivial; you can even skip chapters outright if you don't like a particular chapter or just want to unlock Chapter 9 on a new save file (though there's still the heart gate...).)

The users don't make game, game developers do. Art doesn't exist without artist who creates it, and as such the artists have final say about their art, like it or not. I have a respect for developer who allows their game to be modded, but nothing about games is mandatory after all, they are just silly escapism for people who don't have anything smart to do in their life if we are going to be brutally "realistic" about that.

I wouldn't say that.

Hey gang, just a quick update about Silksong.

We had planned to release in the 1st half of 2023, but development is still continuing. We're excited by how the game is shaping up, and it's gotten quite big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as we can.

Expect more details from us once we get closer to release.
