kultpcgames: I haven't tested it yet, but Beat Hazard 2 got an update to v.1.23 this month (around June 16th).

MarkoH01: Thanks for the message. I forwarded it to someone who can test it. Will report when there are news.
I tested it right now and this version has the same problem.

Stucked in loading screen "Checking player 1 stats".

:(((

Edit: I will inform the GOG staff.

Edit 2:

It seems to me that the current update only contains a promotional graphic for the third part and the corresponding main theme OST. But I only looked superficially.

I can also confirm it doesn't work. I bought both BH1 and BH2 a couple of years ago, but only played the first one. I enjoyed it, but never got around to playing the second one.

I didn't know there was an update to BH2, has GOG stopped notifying again? I still have version 1.2.0 on my backup drive, but I downloaded the current version and installed it. I use a firewall that blocks traffic by default unless I specifically add an exception for a program. When I start BH2, it kind of freezes for a moment before sitting on the screen saying Checking player stats.

It's probably not worth checking the other version since the latest version was release only a few days ago and this has been reported before it came out.

Alright, here are some updates regarding the issues with Beat Hazard 2 and Beat Hazard 3:

1. Beat Hazard 2 - the game couldn't be played without an internet connection and would be stuck in the loading screen trying endlessly to establish a connection.

We've had this issue before, which was later fixed, but it seems that the latest update for the game has brought it back. Right now, we've forced a rollback to the previous version (free of this problem) and we'll investigate it further to get rid of it in the 1.23 version.

EDIT: version 1.20 suffers from this issue as well, even though we thought we'd fixed it. Looking into it.

2. Beat Hazard 3 - the same issue, where without an internet connection the game is stuck in the loading screen trying endlessly to establish a connection.

However, this one is a bit different because it does not occur when the game has been launched at least once with an active internet connection. So if you want to play it offline, you have to run it with the Internet just one time - no connection is required after that one launch.

Of course, we are well aware that it is not an ideal situation and we'll also look into it to get rid of it completely.

Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for raising it!

Very good! As soon as it gets fixed, I'll buy the game :)
Are Steam versions DRMed with always-online as well?
Hey all! Some good news - both Beat Hazard 2 and Beat Hazard 3 were fixed and they no longer have the issue of needing an Internet connection! :)
I just tested Beat Hazard 2 v 1.317 and I can confirm that it now works without an internet connection and without a Galaxy.

It's actually quite fun.

Great to see, always nice to take games off of the list of games that still have some drm issues.
