Spectrum_Legacy: Well, the game is from '86 and Japanese games were known for poor translations, often featuring some serious Engrish. That gave us so many iconic lines and memes though. Imo it has that 80's-90's charm where you kinda expect stuff like epic fail, all your base are belong to us, etc.

Let's say that slap fight slaps though. We know what came next, it's all part of history.
Anyway, are there any Engrish titled games made nowadays in Japan? Would be interesting to know.
You also wouldn't expect Einhänder to be a shoot 'em up. The Japanese are also good at screwing up German. ;-)
These games look like classics, excited to play them.

P-E-S: Slap Fight... With that kind of name I wouldn't expect it to be a shmup.

maeschba: Perhaps you prefer Alcon, how it is also known in North America.
..and is available as just that, a separate game/rom too via changing it from game settings menu...
so yes, like with twin cobra/others, the game may come with different variants.

you can switch between the different regional (jp/us/row) game versions.

I'm not sure about the status of English games, but as a French speaker, I can tell you that the French sentences that they put on some fancy goods are incredibly funny at times.

My wife sometimes shows me something Japanese that has some French written on it to ask me if the sentence structure is good and sometimes she just knows from my laughing that it is not. She's learning French now so maybe in a not so distant future, she won't need me for that.

wiecz: Wasn't this release supposed to support Linux?

maeschba: Will be. They are still working on it.

Steam versions support Linux for a while. I'm still holding back buying them, as I won't to get them on GOG and want to have them running natively under Linux... :/

Linux and GOG combined is probably not top priority. They have to strip away Steam Input, which they apparently did for the Windows versions. We will have to wait. Out of curiosity I tried to run Slap Fight on Linux in Wine and it ran without problems. I have all Toaplan shooters here on GOG and will perhaps buy one on Steam just to see if there really is a native version.
