So through highly legitimate and legal sources I managed to get my hands on a copy of this game and I have to say it is a master piece, was then and is now. Not so much the dark Athena aspect but the butchers bay that came bundled with it. Star breeze was a master of the what I call Highs and lows game play. Where there are pure combat areas of stealth or carnage but there are quite moments through out that by providing contrast to the more hectic areas enhance them. see Remedy for other masters of this style.

Any way while I am perfectly happy with my legal and legitimate copy (tm) i would like to see it back on GOG so i could add it to my library.
My PS3 copy is taking up space and I would love for it to not do that. But we'd need to get Vin Diseal's attention and it seems like the Plandemic killed his movie-making mojo; I think he might let the entire Riddick IP rot.
Butcher Bay is total masterpiece and one of the most immersive games ever for me. Personally I put it in the same category as Deus Ex or System Shock 2, it's that good. Sadly I have only old retail copy and really regret I didn't bought it here before removal, especially as it was very cheap on sales.

If I recall correctly Butcher Bay wasn't available on GoG before, only Dark Athena.

Dark Athena came with butchers bay.

GoG isn't listed in Butcher Bay's release history, while it is in Dark Athena's, though.

Butcher's Bay was the first game in the series. Dark Athena was second.
But, when they released Dark Athena, they included a graphically enhanced version of Butcher's Bay.
So - with the (GOG) release of Dark Athena, you also got Butcher's Bay.

Quote: "The game is a sequel to The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, which was remade and included along with the Assault on Dark Athena campaign."

Dark Athena included Butcher Bay as standard, so no, you wouldn't see GoG listed on the Butcher Bay release history (essentially, there was very limited difference between BB and the BB campaign included in DA; the only reason to have a separate GoG release of BB would be as a "goodie" with DA)

I got DA on GoG - I have to admit, the BB campaign was much better than the DA one.

This is correct as far as i can tell. Also the original Butcher Bay was an Xbox (original) game, though when Dark Athena came out they put it as a pair on the 360 as well. Probably due to that they just put it as a pair elsewhere as well.

I agree pretty good. Though the walking/movement is a little... slow and swayish... Takes some getting used to.

Butcher Bay still stands up mostly to this day. Dark Athena was just a bit of chicken fat mind. There's a pretty nice article from a few months ago in Retro Gamer on the topic of Butcher Bay's development. If you can track it down, it's worth a read
