Today let's look at the 4 sides o the conflict present in Songs of Conquest, the turn-based fantasy game you can already wishlist on GOG.

The title is set in a world plagued by war, in which the once-powerful Empire was shattered into pieces. Now, 4 contesting nations fight for dominance over surrounding lands and realms. Here they are:

Arleon
The first faction of the game is a medieval-like realm divided into ever-bickering baronies. Arleon's armed forces rely both on the heavy cavalry of the armor-clad knights, as well as the mysterious Faey, magical creatures of the deep woods.

Barya
The next side of the war is a merchant nation that loves gold and a good trading deal. During its wars Barya resolves to technology to destroy its enemies, creating deadly machines, producing gunpowder, and hiring professional mercenaries.

Rana
A faction that comes from deadly marshes – its frog-like folk were enslaved and despised once. Now, united by a mysterious Wielder, they unleash their rage on all foes thanks to the aid of powerful swamp magicians and creatures.

Barony of Loth
The last faction embraces the promise of the so-called Unseen Society and wants to bring the once powerful empire back from the dead – literally. The legions of Loth consist of undead creatures that bring fear to the hearts of the enemy.

How do you think, which side will be the best for you?

Wishlist Songs of Conquest on GOG before the game's premiere to enjoy strategic, turn-based fun, that draws inspiration from the best titles of the genre.
Interesting.

One thing I noticed: 4 factions, 2 campaigns.

Will you get to play all 4 in the campaigns or do only 2 of the factions have a campaign? Would prefer if you got to play all 4. Always disliked factions that were only playable in multiplayer or skirmish maps.

Comparing the factions to Heroes 3, it seems:
Arleon - Castle + Rampart
Barya - Tower (though seems more like Academy from Heroes 5)
Rana - Fortress
Barony of Loth - Necropolis

Knowing myself I'll stick to Arleon for most of the time. Such faction is the essence of good vs evil theme.

This game looks interesting so I've been doing some reading, and from what can find here's how it works:

There's currently 4 factions and 2 campaigns planned for the early access/in dev release. Together the campaigns cover all four factions, with an Arleon + Barony of Loth campaign and a Barya + Rana campaign. That's what we'll get when the game first launches. There's also the usual skirmish maps and such.

Afterwards there are designs for up to four more factions, although it's up in the air if that many will be added. A random map generator is planned. Developers adding campaign(s) is possible but not guaranteed; it depends on what there's demand for during the in dev/early access phase. The level editor is also supposed to be capable of letting you make your own campaigns.

Another detail that I found worth mentioning is that crossplay between the different store versions is supported.

Thanks a ton for the details. Glad to hear the campaigns cover all the factions.

Game definitely looks interesting for a turn-based/Heroes fan. Will keep my eye out on this when it releases. To the wishlist it goes.
All factions seem pretty nasty, but I guess they can be split into neutral (Arleon, Barya) and evil (Rana, Loth), with maybe a chance of salvation for Arleon. Maybe.
All factions look interesting. I love the sprites and their animation.
Let's go Barya.
Seems to be based on the Ottoman empire.
Guns and cannons, baybee!
