GOG.com: Check out our Price Meltdown Sale!
Into the heat of the forum with you...
Not the "actual" Summer Sale I assume ;)
Another sale...how exciting not.
And checking just some of the games...wow, it's the same discount like the last time....and the next time (of that I am 100% sure).

The only thing GoG achieves with their constant sales is that the platform is increasingly seen as a bargain shop and hardly anyone buys a game at full price.
Why is Gog rotating the same games under different sale titles in each month ?

Yes and some of the are still a lot more expensive then elsewhere.

Well, IMHO there are a lot of discounts, but usually mediocre ones at that. To be a "bargain
shop " GOG would need some actual bargains. ;)

True, that is also what I am experiencing. The only time, when I am buying something at full price, when it is a new release I am excited about, like BG 3 or something that I really want to be released on GOG and it is relatively new game, as well. Otherwise, sooner or later I can get it cheaper and probably already played it in the past on some other platform. If we would get a lot more day one releases or popular recent games, I can see myself buying stuff I am excited about as soon as it lands on GOG. Still remember when Skyrim came to GOG out of nowhere, it was insta buy for me, didn't even care if it was sold at a lower price or full price.

It seems to me that the discounts are happening because the platform's users are buying fewer and fewer games (for ‘’x‘’ reasons), including, of course, the economic factor. And, the way to incentivise people (platform users) to buy is with discounts in their games catalogue. You could even say that it has decreased free gifts (compared to Steam, for example) and previous years. Honestly, I don't see anything wrong with it, if this strategy gets people interested in a discounted game. On the subject of pricing, without a doubt, GOG is the best option in terms of value localisation. Not every country has a stable or strong economy. So GOG has always been the best option for buying games online (and especially DRM-free). A hug to all! :)

No, it's not. Neither part of the Price Meltdown Sale nor discounted at all.
So. Much. Heat.

Must cave my way

Oriza-Triznyák: Why is Gog rotating the same games under different sale titles in each month ?
Funnily enough, I've been finding that they've been rotating through what I've been looking for, since its taken three different sales for all the Warhammer titles to get marked down, finishing off here with the Playstation 1 titles.

I don't really see why sales are something to complain about. You'd rather be paying the full price for the games?

People don't complain about the existence of sales, per se.
People complain about constant sales, where there are always the same games sold, at always the same price (respectively: at higher prices than in the sale(s) before).

See: at some point, after enough sales, a "discounted sale price" turns into the new base price.

And then people expect to see higher discounts, aka: lower sale prices, before they buy.

And the most ironic thing about the constant sales on GOG is probably this interview from 2012:

Quote
--------------------
"CD Projekt co-founder Marcin Iwinski also took a bit of a dig at Steam sales, suggesting that they devalue the games involved, and dent perceptions of how much games are worth on a wider scale.
"Running so many discounts decreases the perceived value of our entire entertainment media.
When you can buy a bundle of fantastic indie games for $1, it's that much harder to convince someone to shell out $10 to try one indie game," he said.

"Of course you see a huge number of people buying games when they're on such incredible sale, but how many of them are enjoying the games they buy?
Buying a dozen games, if you never play them, means that you're just a cow to be milked by the industry.
I don't think this is good for the industry or the gamers who pay our salaries."
---------------------
And the two sentences of you, which I quoted above, confirm his statement, retroactively.

At some point, people are simply waiting for sales - and almost no one buys at full price anymore.
