wolfsite: I'm getting the feeling we will never get Rise or Shadow of the Tomb Raider here.
RIP us
My new year resolution?
Just try to survive
Can't believe it's the 25th of January already ... here anyway.

It still feels like the year has only just started, and I guess the sale isn't called the New Year's Day Sale, so probably fair enough to still call it a New Year Sale ... just ... and then there's the Chinese connection.

I haven't bothered to dredge up any New Year Resolutions but I hope GOG have, that are great for us.

So I will just remain hopeful for some great games appearing this year ... if not in this sale ... though there is still time yet.

I'd also like to finally see a few decent discounts on a good number of games, that have been lacking such, some for a few years. I'd certainly like to reduce my wishlist to more sensible numbers.

That said, I've not bought a game from GOG since Dec 26, 2024. Which is a bit longer than usual for me ... but then I did go away on holiday for two weeks. I'll probably break that spell tonight, because I currently have 4 games in my cart ... though 3 are free ones.
And I haven't even finished all the games I bought in the Winter sale...

I haven't even started all the games i bought when i log in ten years ago. XD
It's indeed Chinese New Year's this Wednesday, but nowhere does the promo say Chinese / Lunar New Year Sale or make any references to the year of the snake.

The harsh reality under the reason for this extended winter sale with so many games discounted is likely because GOG had poor sales this past Q4 likely because there was no old AAA games to drive traffic and sales.

Sure, maybe...but they've also followed pretty much this same pattern for a lot of past years (major year-end release or no).

Where did you get this information? Is there already an annual report for 2024?

I also see the relatively weak major releases in 2024 compared to previous years as a point of criticism, but this should easily be offset by the Amazon Prime GOG games. Amazon doesn't distribute them for free, the rights holders get their money and GOG certainly doesn't pay for them and is unlikely to give up its share. There will certainly be big discounts, maybe a little higher than the current sale discounts, but certainly nothing more.

However, I can well imagine that as a side effect, many gamers will now be more cautious about buying games, as the games they want could also appear on Amazon Prime or in the next GOG Humble Bundle. It is difficult to judge whether this will be offset by new customers from these partnerships.

Well, as soon as the annual reports are published, we will know more.

My New Year resolution is just to try to move forward and make even one small iota of forward progress as a human being as far as having diversified interests and overall just being more well informed. I feel like since 2022 I haven't really picked up the slack on that.

In regards to the sale though I reckon I might scoop up XCOM finally as I forgot to during the winter sale...
