I've been traveling and was unable to check on GOG regularly, today I got a chat notification but there's no new messages in there. I checked almost all the people who are in the conversations list, still nothing. Anyone having this problem?

Yes. Since yesterday. But I thought it was related to a more worrying issue I've just discovered - I had a conversation with a user yesterday, but today, there's no chat history, and upon contacting the user I thought I talked to, he claims we've never spoken. Now, I'd understand if it was a scammer spoofing a well-known user, but for the chat history to have disappeared...the only explanation that comes to mind is that one user clearing a conversation deletes it for both parties. Which is a terribad idea, but it might explain the phantom notification - someone sent something, then cleared the conversation.

Scammer topic clears it up, it really was a name-spoofing scammer. The chat history deletion thing, though...ffs, GOG.

Had it too. I've had several blocked people trying to PM me and I was thinking that might be it.

Nope, didn't block anyone but still have that notification so it's probably unrelated.

Few impersonating scammers were reported and had their accounts removed yesterday. Maybe you were contacted, but when they were reported and removed the chat disappeared before you read it, but the notification is still there?

Yes actually, I posted about 2 weeks ago. That seems like a possible explanation, thanks! (Also could you link me to that post where gog said they removed those accounts?)
