I wasn't talking about paying for rep. I was speaking of two different scenarios:
A) GOG introduces a paywall which forces you to make a purchase of $5 to use the chat/forum, but they make it not only for new users, meaning existing users who've already bought well over $5 now get their chat/forum access revoked until they pay $5*
B) GOG introduces a repwall whereby you need 50 rep to use the forum/chat, except instead of setting it so that your rep value has to equal 50 or higher, they set it so that you need to GAIN 50 rep, so in other words, literally nobody can use it until they get an extra 50 rep, which is now impossible, meaning the whole forum is shut down for everybody*

*Except Galaxy users, that is.

Before I clicked on this thread, I hadn't even realized this was an official announcement. I'm not personally upset by this (it doesn't really effect me), but your communication skills could use some work,

well, i was chatting with a few goglings last month, and now it seems i cant because of default setting, and i guess they didnt spot this thread

means i have no way to reach them anymore

(and "no !", i wont just throw out friends invite to everyong just because i chatted for a couple of hours on one specific topic... that is NOT what it takes to fit in the "Friend category" to me... but i would still gladly speak with them again... unless GOG decides it's better for us all not to keep doing that... because they cant enforce/control a few trolls around here)

Turns out they aren't fucking around with the "anyone" setting.

Who on Earth architected this decision to switch without asking existing users chat privacy settings to "friends only"? How long this person works with any community-based web services in his professional life?
