Saw it on Eurogamer, I hope it's announced and detailed on E3 next week. I haven't played stuff like Hearthstone, but the Gwent game on Witcher 3 was interesting.

I'd already read it elsewhere, I'm assuming they'll change the system because Gwent was mindnumbingly simple and dull.

I didn't care for Gwent at first that much as I couldn't really figure it out and lost pretty much every single time. Then I started to get the hang of it and didn't mind it. By the end of my Witcher 3 game I was enjoying it and wished I could have started the game already knowing how to play as I'd have done much better.
It seems there are lots of people out there who like Gwent also, and there are standalone physical Gwent decks available for purchase to play outside of the computer. I've seen various people comment online that they'd like to be able to play Gwent standalone also. So it stands to reason that there is a demand for a standalone Gwent game. Obviously there would have to be enough demand to make it worthwhile to make such a game, but it wouldn't really have to be that many people to make a profitable game on an indie type scale or even larger, so if there are people who want to buy such a game and CDPR thinks that it would be worth their while to do so and have profit in it, then I don't see why they shouldn't consider doing just that.
For people who don't want to buy it or play it, or don't give a crap about it, well it wouldn't be made for them and they wouldn't be forced to buy it, so I'm not sure why they would even care at all.
For those who fear this would take away from progress on Cyberpunk 2077, that is very unrealistic. It's not as if they have a fixed number of employees and they must all be dedicated to one single game development. Many game development companies have multiple studios and are working on a number of games at the same time, with each game being developed by completely different groups of developers or even different studios within the company. If they see an opportunity to make another game they hire new people or start a new studio or even acquire one, or subcontract out to another studio to do the work. For example, "The Witcher Adventure Game" was developed by "Can Explode", not by CD Projekt Red directly. They hired someone else to make the game, and it had zero impact on any other game they're working on.
This is going to make some folks happy, make CDPR and GOG some money eventually, and cause no harm to anyone else, and it's not going to delay any other games being worked on either. If someone doesn't like Gwent or want to play it, don't buy it. That's about all there is to say really. :)

I swear to god if this is real...
I really wanted to get into A stand alone card game and I hated having to go into witcher 3 to go around and fight people when having a standalone game is much more appealing and will eat my life away! PLEASE GOG RELEASE THIS <3
