I don't know why, but for some reason, I can't change the resolution in Fallout 1 and 2. I can remember being able to change it right from the game's options section, but when I go in there, it doesn't let me. When I was on my other laptop, this wasn't an issue, at least from what I can remember. On my newer laptop, there's an issue with Fallout 1 and 2. I've even looked for solutions online, but none of them are really clear. I did one thing where you go into the ddraw.ini file and tried changing some of text, along with the f2_res_Config.exe file, and still nothing works.

I really wanna play Fallout 1 and 2 again, but I'm stuck on the default resolution, which is very bothersome to me. I need to play with a higher resolution so I can see more of the screen and the graphics won't be as bad.

You probably meant to ask in the Fallout forum, but the store page links the the general forum for some reason. I can't post links, but if you click community > all forums and search for Fallout, the correct forum should appear in the list.

PCGamingWiki says the GOG version should be patched already to allow for higher resolutions. There is also a fan-made patch, but that apparently introduces bugs and changes to gameplay.

Have you tried switching from fullscreen to windowed, or vice versa? Are your drivers up-to-date?

Oh damn, I didn’t realize I posted outside of the Fallout forum. I ain’t used this site in a while, so I’m kinda rusty.

I hadn’t thought about switching the type of screen resolution, but I’ll think about that now. I’ll check my drivers too.

Thanks for your reply.
I highly recommend using the high resolution mod/patch and then using interger scaling with a res half your monitor's res. I.e. 720p for a 1440p monitor.
