My PC version of Grim Dawn character has the Shaman and Nightblade classes and the skill I want to put on the quickslot is Stormcaller's Pact. The skill is active but it doesn't appear on the quickslot menu, instead I see it hovering just about the UI bar.

Is there a way to remove those skills hovering above the UI so I can add them to a quickslot?

I had a non-GOG version of Grim Dawn and it didn't have those floating skills above the UI.
Grim Dawn is the one and only game you own on GOG?

The Grim Dawn build here on GOG and elsewhere are functionally identical, it should be the same for how the UI, binding, etc, all work.

A somewhat recent patch made buff skills into automatic ones. They no longer have to be manually activated, but turn on the moment you put a skill point in them. Thus the icon showing up and not being able to put it on the skill bar, as there is no longer a reason to do so. Some notes:

1) if you have points in multiple exclusive skills for whatever reason, the one with the highest skill value takes precedence. Otherwise, all buffs are always turned on and can't be turned off (sans removing all skill points of course). The reasoning they gave for the change was so the player no longer has to manually reactivate all the buffs should they get nullified (mostly Arcane heroes). This leads into the next change:

2) Arcane enemy heroes now disable all these automatic buff skills for 5 seconds if they hit you with their nullification. They turn back on again automatically afterwards.
