Trying to log into GOG galaxy *from my desktop client, not the website* and have given up because it's forcing me to do an endless series (like 20+ both times I've tried) of google's RECAPTCHA.

1) I don't want to do any free labour for google, especially not to acess something that I've paid my own money for already

2) There is no reason for any recaptcha requirements from desktop. I'm logging in from my own machine, not from the web. GOG already knows that I'm a customer, not a robot, because *I downloaded and installed their crappy client that is stopping me from playing games*

3) no interest in using the client anymore at this stage, this is just stupid. What's the point of offering "no DRM" games if they're unplayable bc the vendor doesn't trust me enough to log in directly?

How do I DL my games directly so that I don't need to spend the rest of my afternoon doing free image classification for google instead of playing my new purchases

Just hit the offline installer button on the download page in your games library, and follow instructions.

As noted, DL the offline installers and install using them. If your game is already installed via Galaxy, go to the install location and find the game's .exe file. Create a shortcut to your desktop and launch from that. This bypasses Galaxy altogether.

Thanks, I voted for that and posted the following coment:

This is a terrible feature that adds significant friction both when trying to purchase from you and when trying to log into your desktop client to play. You, GOG, have no control over the amount of friction - I just gave up trying to log in to GOG Galaxy and am DLing all my purchases offline, because I *literally couldnt log in*. I just had to do an apparently endless (screen after screen after screen) of image classification for google. You've lost a user of your client over this (this point of the client from our perspective is that it's easier to play games, not harder) and the next time that I can't log in to make a purchase then you'll have lost a customer too. Bizarre that you would cede control over such an important part of the user experience to google, who has no investment in your users or incentive to balance their priorities (prevent robots gaining access through RECAPTCHA while enjoying plenty of free labour) with yours (don't ask your customers to do a stupid and frustrating thing with no time limit). You're letting google bounce a lot of legitimate customers with no benefit to you.
