satoru: Sounds like you got these games second hand. Steam games at retail are functionally boxes that are used to transport a piece of paper that has you activation code on it. The cds are worthless. The cd either has the cd-key imprinted on it, the case has a sticker on the inside, or the manual has it.

No, all but one I bought new at staples years ago in cd cases, the last one LOTR in a DVD case I got off a collector selling off 15 trillion sealed games from dos to present, I didn't think to look to see if steam still offered it, as the price was good and they assured me any online activation games were sealed and unused and would activate without issue. He's right, the cd's I bought at staples were just the hyper link and a piece of paper with the code. They made me set up an internet connection for my gaming xp tower, then slowed my dual cable gigabit connection down to dial up speeds for 4 hours before telling me that they couldn't establish a fast enough link with my computer to add the games to my library, so I never got asked for the codes because it never got that far. My steam account shows I own nothing. These games were old when I bought them sealed new, that is why they were on clearance. I had never heard of steam before at that time, around when XP was officially dead but still had a good market share. I was just pissed at the time that I bought physical cd's that did not include any install files forcing a internet connection on a vulnerable os, then forcing a high speed internet connection to act as if it were dial up just to not give me anything after I ran cables and set up the network. I had never heard of a cd needing internet to install at that time, seemed so weird while I was building my dos and win98 game library's, and because they were clearance they were nonrefundable. LOTR I got a refund on and don't expect to ever be more than a nice coaster, but it would be nice if it was otherwise someday. The star Trek games seem like something that GOG might be working on as I don't remember what the other titles were but GoG does have alot of them. I don't recall the other names or where that box of games went, it was a few years back, again XP was dead yet still relevant back then.
Right now GoG only seems to offer to add games in the steam library to the GoG library, But I have codes that are for games that as far as I know Can no longer be added to the Steam library, because they do not have them on the server anymore to download, or even find the product page to enter the codes. I'm ust wondering if anyone thinks it is likely Gog will start accepting certain steam keys, because if they do, I have unredeemed steam keys that might be supported by the publisher and GoG someday eventually.
I know LOTR isn't offered here I said that already, but I think one of the star Trek games is, not DAC, but one of them.
