snowkatt: nah just the better songs from the wall not the one we al know ;p
avatar
tinyE: That's what I meant when I said it.

Comfortably Numb
Waiting for the Worms
Run Like Hell
mother
the show must go on
is there anybody out there
vera
the trial
outside the wall
in the flesh
in the flesh ?
the thin ice
goodbey blue skye
empty spaces

there is godo stuff in the wall
its just not a very uplifting record

very few albusm make you want to reach for the razor blades as much as the wall does
other then maybe anything nico did

eksasol: I don't need to be told what I should like.
To be fair, we could say the same with you asking "Who listens to the Beatles?"

tinyE: We're just having some fun here, lighten up. :P
avatar
snowkatt: we are just talking about music in my opinion

so why the gilmour era only ?

( waters era for me )
avatar
tinyE: They are both fantastic.
people dont know how to lighten up anymore these days ;p

i tend to favour the waters era because the albusm seems to have a drive and vision behind them

the gilmour ones ?
not so much
and the gilmour era encompasses 2 whole albums
2 live albums
and an odds and sodds album 20 years after the fact

not much i can get enthusiastic about to be honest but its still quality music

Pretty sure there's already heated discussion on this by Floyd fans. There were too much political and social views with Rogers, David lyrics were more hopeful, see: Marooned, High Hopes.

Interesting, I've found 4 bands so far with a song that has this name.
I wonder what other phrases out there have a lot of different songs attached to them.

isnt there always ?
im sure there are a lot of fans who prefer the syd era
all 1.5 album of it

i generally like the more depressing lyrics by waters
but cant deney that gilmour is more light hearted

the wall and its add on ( the final cut ) are black as night compared to amlors relative breath of fresh air

im sure queen is one of them ;p

the queen song is quite literal though since freddie knew he was dying of aids while performing it

the floyd the show must go on was a vignette in the wall showcasing that no matter what your mental state
the show has to go on

i also found two versions of death or glory so far
the clash
and iron maiden

Which reminds me!

Can anyone name the only song ever to top the Billboard Charts that DID NOT have a vowel in it's title?

For those of you who can't hazard a guess, here it is:

The first one that came to mind was the Leo Sayer one. I don't think I've actually listened to any of the others, although I'm aware they exist (Queen, Pink Floyd, Chicago).

back ground on the queen version
from the wiki
Mercury was so ill when the band recorded the song in 1990, that May had concerns as to whether he was physically capable of singing it. Recalling Mercury's performance, May states; "I said, 'Fred, I don't know if this is going to be possible to sing.' And he went, 'I'll fucking do it, darling' — vodka down — and went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal

nope. Nothing wrong with it. Talking about music is half the fun of this thread. The other half is of course listening to all those recommendations :)
