Yesterday saw the PC release of what might be one of my most highly anticipated games this year: the remake of the Korean horror classic "White Day - A Labyrinth Named School". Chances are you've never heard of that game. Try to imagine "Amnesia", but set in a school and instead of monsters you're chased by the janitor patrolling the hallways. It pioneered a lot of the gameplay elements that Frictional Games would be acclaimed for - and they did it about 10 years earlier! Unfortunately, it only sold a few copies and quickly faded into near-complete obscurity. An English version was planned at some point, but it never materialised - even though the amazon store page is still up.

Anyway, this lost classic now got a remake and it is published on Steam by the British company PQube. Can we please get these guys to release it here as well? They have a bunch of other stuff in their portfolio that I wouldn't mind seeing here either: An RPG called "Cat Quest", which looks adorable, a game called "Don't disturb", which "explores the traditional Asian views on the afterlife and the underworld". They also are apparently somehow involved with publishing "Syberia 3" (even though the Steam version is apparently published by the devs themselves - maybe they're in charge of the retail version).

So yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing these guys here. I don't have Twitter or facebook, so if any of you could ask them about releasing on gog, that would be much appreciated!
I did write to PQube and ROI Games about seeing White Day on GOG a few months ago, and I never got a reply from either of them. For what it's worth, here's the wishlist entry for White Day:

And here's PQube's and ROI Games' email:

Hahahaha, no wonder you never got a reply. I just checked the Steam forums and it seems these dolts actually made good on their threat to slap DENUVO on top of their Steamworks-DRMed game. That would explain their lack of interest in gog.

But now for the fun part: It has been cracked within less than 24 hours :D :D :D

Now, I kinda can understand where the devs are coming from. One of the reasons the original game bombed was that it got pirated to hell and back back in the day. However, if it weren't for these pirated copies, this game would have faded into complete obscurity. But thanks to the various copies floating around the internet, White Day has been able to gain some momentum. It's considered a lost cult classic among the people who have played it. And they could have used that free PR to their advantage.

Instead they opted for slapping the most draconian DRM on the game, hoping that this will prevent rampant piracy. Instead, their fancy protection got cracked in less than 24 hours. meaning that this move will end up exclusively hurting legitimate customers rather than pirates. They could have learned from the past, but they only took away the absolute worst lessons imaginable.

I just wanted to thank you, SCPM! You're a hero to this community and it means a lot to me that you were the one to contact them. Kudos! I'll probably drop each of these a line, hopefully the experience of getting kicked in the nads by having your game cracked 24 hours after release plus the abysmal user score might persuade them to give alternative outlets such as gog a try. As for PQube, which address did you contact? PR? Marketing? Being confronted with a plethora of addresses always intimidates me. :P Maybe I'll send my inquiry to all of them, just to be on the safe side. xD
I had sent the email to PQube's sales address. I'll give another shot at contacting them, I don't see how it could hurt at this point. Good luck to you in hearing back from them! :)

Wow, awesome. I'd be more than happy to buy the game here.
I hope it's not inferior to the Steam version... but eh.... I dunno...

Wow...

That is stunningly awesome and completely unexpected news! This will be an instabuy!

Thanks for sharing this! :)
Now that we got PQube here as a publisher, can we pretty please get White Day here? Don't believe the mixed reviews on Steam, this game is awesome! I got nearly 50h logged into this game on Steam and if it were to show up here, it would be an instabuy.

Can't hurt to encourage people to vote, if they'd buy it here:

Thanks! I did just that in the Barry thread. That's how I was reminded of this thread in the first place. ;)
