Just bought a VR headset and finding certain games are causing my PC to crash.
The screen and headset go black and the PC fans start to run at full speed.

The event viewer says the the problem is with GalaxyclientHelper.exe
The most annoying thing is most of the games it is crashing aren't even GOG games.

Any help fixing this would be appreciated.

That's an unrelated issue. GalaxyClientHelper.exe is a background service that crashes since a bug was (re)introduced a few versions back. You can downgrade to the last known good version if you want, or you can simply ignore it. It probably has no noticeable effects besides the crashdumps folder being littered with logs, and maybe GOG Galaxy failing to start on the first click on its icon.

System crashes occur either due to bad drivers or failing hardware.
1. Double-check that your hardware is not overheating. If your GPU or mobo drivers offer no way to monitor temperature, you can use Libre Hardware Monitor.
2. Double-check that your drivers and operating system are up-to-date.
3. If the problems persist, you're more likely to find help on a forum dedicated to solving hardware and software problems than here.

If the Galaxy client is causing a problem, just uninstall the client?

VR headset involved in crashes when playing games. Gotcha.

Other than the event viewer log entry just being there, do you have any direct correlation between this error and the crashes? Like the time/date stamp of both coincide perfectly?

I'd say it's a coincidence, and it's the VR headset which is causing the issue. You just said yourself you JUST started using it, AND it's not only GOG games which are locking up.

I'll wager if you shut off Galaxy entirely (frontend and background processes & services) and then run said games you'll still have lockups. This sounds much more like hardware/driver issues, which aren't always caught by event viewer anyway.
