FM 5 has been translated. I don't know about 1 and 2 though.

It would be nice to play the entire series all the way through so that we can see what the full story was about.

They would have to be ported to pc first, which I seriously doubt Square-Enix would spend money to do given the series has a very small following (including myself). Then you'd have to convince them to bring it here, which I have yet to see them do with any of their Japanese developed titles. Very unlikely it happens.

I tried installing a mod chip in my PS1 today so I can play FM 2nd amoung other things. Going to have to open it back up tomorrow to see if somehting came loose as Im now getting the CD screen for all games.

Unlikely. Square (and company) developed the games and are not keen on publishing their own titles DRM free, as you may have noticed.
