The DRM-free initiative.

We've always been on a mission to offer you games with no DRM protection whatsoever. Today, we want to start taking things a step further, help out people who bought a retail game with DRM, then ended up stuck with something rather unplayable. We can help you enjoy your favorites once again, and this time around, enjoy them DRM-free!

There are countless retail games out there that don’t work for various reasons: unsupported types of DRM, system incompatibilities, broken features. There's too many too count. Starting today, owners of several retail titles originally sold with DRM can get a digital copy of their game completely free at GOG.com: with no DRM as always, compatible with modern operating systems, and with plenty of goodies to boot.
<span class="bold">Reclaim these games, DRM-FREE:</span>

Editions released worldwide:
-S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl
-S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky
-S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat

Editions released only in CIS & Russian territories:
-Mount & Blade: Warband
-Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword
-Eador: Genesis

To reclaim your game, just use one of the keys that came with your box. You can find more detailed information on the Reclaim your games, DRM-FREE! page to see if your key is compatible and just where to go from there.

This is just the start of something much bigger. We plan to add more titles to the list in the future - it's a long and complicated process that involves negotiating with multiple parties and a scavenger hunt to retrieve forgotten key-databases - but then, we are on a mission here, we'll do whatever it takes.

I got a faulty product at K-Mart and that gives me the right no go to Wall Mart and bitch complain about it.
It's no faulty product, Steam version works fine if you're playing it on Steam. ;)

Point taken Sir! I apologize

Cool avatar BTW. I have foxes all over the place where I live but they never give me cute poses like that.

You're a lucky one then, I have not a single fox here on my place though I like them very much.

My avatar is a section from a Bing wallpaper, you can admire the entire picture (and many more) at the Bing Homepage Gallery. Whatever they say about Bing and MS, their wallpapers are great.

Baby red fox
ARISE FROM THE ASHES!

How about reclaiming certain Bethesda games now? :)
It's been a while, any news?

Was thunking about this in early hours (sod you sleep, why you afk!?), hope some more games do make it here. Was hoping more would be by now.
When I try to redeem a code the message pops up, saying: "Something went wrong, try reloading". Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you.

Which game are you trying to redeem?

Apparently, Stalker, Russian version, while only Worldwide version is allowed to reclaim, if i understand correctly.

Seems like it's the point. I didn't knew that it's only for Worldwide version. Strange though, because when I type the code it goes to the screen where the description says: Expire - Never, Details - Claim the free item and Code Contents - STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl. As if it would be legit to redeem the Russian version as well... except the message with the error :)

That does seem like a weird way for GOG to handle it.

It showing you those details would mean that it's a valid code, but right now, there seems to be some kind of bug that causes issues with the "reclaim" system. Firek said (see here) that they're working to fix this problem.

I see now. Oh, well... They will fix it I think, as long as it's the same company for both worldwide and russian versions - the one which hold the copyrights (GSC). So it seems to be a temporary issue.
I just got an email from GOG stuff that the reclaim is now fixed. Try it ppl and see if it works. Worked for me.
