The DRM-free initiative.

We've always been on a mission to offer you games with no DRM protection whatsoever. Today, we want to start taking things a step further, help out people who bought a retail game with DRM, then ended up stuck with something rather unplayable. We can help you enjoy your favorites once again, and this time around, enjoy them DRM-free!

There are countless retail games out there that don’t work for various reasons: unsupported types of DRM, system incompatibilities, broken features. There's too many too count. Starting today, owners of several retail titles originally sold with DRM can get a digital copy of their game completely free at GOG.com: with no DRM as always, compatible with modern operating systems, and with plenty of goodies to boot.
Reclaim these games, DRM-FREE:

Editions released worldwide:
-S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl
-S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky
-S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat

Editions released only in CIS & Russian territories:
-Mount & Blade: Warband
-Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword
-Eador: Genesis

To reclaim your game, just use one of the keys that came with your box. You can find more detailed information on the Reclaim your games, DRM-FREE! page to see if your key is compatible and just where to go from there.

This is just the start of something much bigger. We plan to add more titles to the list in the future - it's a long and complicated process that involves negotiating with multiple parties and a scavenger hunt to retrieve forgotten key-databases - but then, we are on a mission here, we'll do whatever it takes.

synfresh: I'm really surprised you would be able to redeem Steam keys with this. Namely which they don't apply to the first part of the op's sentence 'unsupported types of DRM'. Plus I wonder if Valve would have an issue, considering it's a steam key to be used with their service, not outside of it at a competitors service.
Not Steam keys but the CD keys the games come with :) Slight difference :)
So... Is this only aimed at DRMed products, or can we see at some point other Non-DRMed classics like Broken Sword I still have in a box redeemable here?
GOG i hope you did all possible to make sure only legit keys get used.

Keygens are major part of the scene. You need to make sure every key is correct. That means only having original lists of verified keys nothing generated or automatic or else this system will be worked around some way.

Lots of shady people on the internet. Nothing personal.

This is amazing thou. This is so much better than anything Steam has.

;)

INFERNO.COP: What now?
File a support ticket with Valve in hopes they can potentially re-assign you valid keys.
My Stalker SoC key also isn't recognized. Copied it from the multiplayer option and tried it with lower and upper case. No chance....

FallenDarkStar: It insists that my Call of Pripyat code is invalid.
Me too, i tried multiple times and no luck, the other two Stalkers reedemed great. GOG help us
This is an amazing move on the part of GOG! I'd been hoping to see more of this type of thing from the company, but never thought they could actually make it happen.

Hopefully this program expands to a wider selection of games as time goes on.
Gog! You continue to amaze me
Clear Sky key worked, but Shadow of Chernobyl key says it's invalid. Bummer :( got the SoC key from the registry
Having to put in Shadow of Chernobyl's disc every time I wanted to play was a serious pain in the neck (if we pretend I am a perfectly honest and law-abiding citizen unaware of alternatives, that is. [winking]).
But now I can infinitely duplicate the game and it has no DRM.

Please never stop being as great as you are, GOG.

EDIT: Well I'll be damned, I could even add Call of Pripyat by using the key that was given to me when I bought it on another website a long time ago! Guess all I have to do now is buy Clear Sky, which is dirt cheap at the time I am writing this.

You faggots are all clueless. This is the most obvious April fools prank ever. In before some modfag deletes my post for having faggot in it.
Don't be harsh on me since the day (the week actually) has been terrible for me, i'm a bit confused with this so i just want to know:

Can i use my Steam key from Stalker Clear Sky and CoP and the retail key from my box version of SoC to have the three games here?
This is an epic idea GOG...

Yes. Just don't be surprised or disappointed if any of the keys are invalid.

(Personally, my SOC key is invalid (god knows why) but the keys for Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat registered without fail)

Not your Steam key, but the key contained within the game's entry in your account.
