Quit being a damn prude. Morals are subjective, not questionable. God, it's like you people are afraid of porn and hentai or something.
"Morals are subjective" I have an opinion, I can believe whatever the hell I want....

Thats how you rationalize rape and murder... 'i can just convolute everything until its ok'

If morality is subjective, then prove to me that rape and murder are wrong... without using objectivity... Go on...

Well, morality depends largely on culture and people. Murder is definitely permitted during acts of war, some militaries even permit taking the women (what you may consider rape) as spoils of war. It happens all the time, all throughout history. We cannot judge the world with a western lens. You will also find a lot of rape hentai in Japan, specifically within manga, anime and eroge. Different culture. There is even murder hentai, guro and such. Not my thing to get off to, nor the rape, but some people enjoy it and as long as they don't commit it in real life, I do not see an issue. Obviously, those things are prohibited in the west, but other cultures, including tribes, are very different.

Our world is not black and white, it is not good and bad, it is not fair and unfair, it is grey.
Following that, I want to apologize for having to discuss those sorts of things here. I just needed to prove a point. Please carry on with the rest of your conversation here and ignore this please. :)

Lots of people thinking that that's ok doesn't stop it being immoral. It happening all the time doesn't stop it being immoral. The lens we need to judge it through is that of the women who are subjected to it, not the lens of the men who want to do it (not saying you want to do it).

Edit: As for on topic, my main reason for not shopping at GOG is DRM and the fact that they haven't been entirely honest with their promise to fight against it, not political.

Time4Tea: I would like to announce that I have decided to boycott GOG for 2021. This is in response to several decisions the site has made over the past year that I believe have been deeply misguided:

Firstly, the continued slippage of GOG's DRM-free values. The promise of 100% DRM-free is what the site was originally founded on and yet GOG seem to be allowing this principle to be increasingly eroded. The games No Man's Sky and Absolver are two examples of games that include single-player DRM, which GOG is aware of and has failed to address. CDPR also seem to continue to believe the rules on GOG don't apply to their own games, firstly with Gwent and more recently the DRMed single-player rewards built into Cyberpunk. In addition, GOG's recent deal with Epic appears to be a cover for GOG to start selling DRMed games.

Next, the continued heavy pushing of Galaxy and the lack of maintenance of the offline installers. Several times in recent months, GOG has given incentives only to Galaxy users in the form of bonus content or free games. This has the effect of making non-Galaxy users feel like second-class customers. Also, there many well documented cases of GOG neglecting to update offline installers, even though they are updating the Galaxy versions, so they clearly have the updated files. This is not acceptable - offline installers are the core of the DRM-free concept. All of this points to a worrying trend which may ultimately lead to GOG abandoning offline installers entirely and making Galaxy mandatory.

Lastly, the recent debacle with Devotion. I won't repeat everything that has been said about this in other threads, but GOG's decision to be complicit in imposing Chinese censorship on non-Chinese users is simply unacceptable. The game needs to be released on GOG immediately.

Actions I would like to see GOG taking:

1) Release Devotion immediately.
2) Remove Gwent, No Man's Sky, Absolver (and any other DRMed games) from the store.
3) Remove DRM from the bonus cosmetics in Cyberpunk.
4) Cancel the deal with Epic.
5) Stop providing free games/incentives only to Galaxy users.
6) Assign adequate resources to maintenance of the offline installers.

For me to make any purchases on GOG this year, #1 needs to happen and at least a couple of the others. I.e. I want to see clear signs of a change in trajectory of the site, away from it's current misguided direction towards being a weak Steam competitor and back towards the principles it was founded on. I had been planning to spend $150-200 on GOG this year, but instead I will be spending that at Zoom Platform, to help build up a viable DRM-free alternative store.

Is anyone else intending to boycott GOG? Who is with me?

Isn't For the King another game that is not DRM.free on GOG? Reviews complain that it can't even be installed without an online connection.

It used to be like that (couldn't run without galaxy). They fixed it.

Add me to the list of Boycotters, how Gog is acting is disgraceful specially the deafening silence and ignorance.

I haven't bought anything last sale and don't plan to buy anything for foreseeable future here.

Good, I was interested in the game but those reviews scared me. They are losing some sales...GOG boycotting themselves as usual, you just need to watch.
GOG silence continues, I would be fine with GOG saying that China threatened them somehow so that's why Devotion had to go, but still nothing has been said. Sigh.

So I went and deleted my entire GOG Wishlist.

Also appropriate Community Wishlist entry https://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/tell_the_gog_team_we_arent_appreciating_their_work_anymore
So, it's you people voting every silly Winnie the Pooh game in the Wishlist? XD Come on!

thefallenalchemist: (OP is using a Winnie the pooh avatar which is political)
I didn't even realise it is political before you pointed it out. But as long as that tiny little man with the world's tiniest self esteem keeps feeding the Barbara Streisand effect and influencing the games we can play, he should be mocked.

Not going to touch that morality is subjective topic, tho. That would become a multi-hour philosophical discussion and this is a game forum. Perhaps on some other forum.

I don't know who this "you" is addressed to, but I certainly didn't vote for any of them, nor do I plan to. I boycott with my wallet, not with my mouse.

And, again, the assumption that the boycott is exclusively, or even primarily, to do with Devotion is also incorrect, at least in my case and the case of others who have commented on this here.
