It would appear that the linux version of Blasphemous has appeared on Steam, does this mean (hopefully!) that we can also expect it appearing on GOG any day soon? Has anybody heard anything to that effect?

There is no guarantee for this, many games with Linux version on Steam don't have it on GOG (e.g. Metro series). So I'd recommend you to ask developers directly on their infocom channels.

Blasphemous not having a Linux build here is an old problem.

I'd think if the devs provided linux builds and were tested to work out of the box on the desired Ubuntu systems, they would then offer it....
