Haha!!!. Betcha thought was yet another April Fools thread ;).

Nah. Honest question. Scanning through the top 20-30 games on wishlist (come on Blade Runner!!) , i recognise most of the games bar 2. The ones mentioned in title.
Why has this game got so many votes? Whats special about it that made it a classic?.
They were fun but I wouldn't call them classic. Probably just the sense of nostalgia.
While I never liked the games too much, the idea of a huge AI creature you had to train while playing god was pretty cool.

Pretty much this. Plus, they pulled it off pretty well. The 2nd is still good, though I think they drastically simplified creature training, and for some reason turned the game into a quasi city builder :P
As I remember it, there was also no penalty for being evil - hence the title. Lot's of games allow you to be evil, but make it easier to be good (Infinity engine games come to mind here), Black & White didn't really care.

I could be wrong though, I never played the second one, and I haven't played the first one in a long, long time.
I have the 1st one on disc and reinstalled it the other day and.....well so what? :P

I remember it being so amazing when I first played it but either my taste had changed or it just hasn't aged well because man, there was nothing there for me.

Still, it would be nice to see it here, and I'd get it here, because using the disc can be a real bitch for that game.
B&W2 was a hell of a lot of fun. It took all the roughness and lack of "GAME" out of B&W1 and made it into an actual game.

The I guess I should check out #2. Sounds like what I was actually looking for with #1.
Lel... I though this thread was another contribution to April fools' day. xD

horrible frustration simulator.

how did people have fun with this?
I played the first one when it came out, and I had fun with it. I admit that I would want it again for nostalgia.
