Tried it? Liked it? What games did you like on a big screen, and what games did not work very well?

A thread a couple weeks back reminded me that I played - for a short while - Mount & Blade: Warband on a 46" TV up in my office. And it was glorious! Got the old stereo hooked up to it, and since it's in the office out in the shop I can crank it as loud as I want without bothering the wife. ; ) The TV is sitting on my desk as a second monitor so it's pretty much in your face, which was fine for this game.

Maybe 1-2 years back, I was playing the Crysis games on our 55" TV. Worked really well with a wireless mouse, keyboard, and headset. Tried it in 4K but didn't really notice any difference, so I popped it back down to 1K. Living room setup so it's about 12 feet away - a bit more normal than the one above. Biggest problem here was small text in a couple spots, such as menus. Other than that, worked like a champ. Well, I should add that getting decent ergonomics with a keyboard and mouse while sitting on a couch... could use a custom stand or tray of some sort.

Nice thing is that nowadays it can be as simple as connecting an HDMI cable and enabling that connection in the OS.

Is this something you've tried? Still do it on a regular basis?
I have a room setup for a 2.5m (diagonal) projector screen. Mainly for movies (or life sized porn!), but with the original 720p projector I used it heaps for playing Xbox 360 games.
But I started using it less for games when I upgraded to a 1080p projector. I burnt through a lamp in 12 months because of all the day long sessions, and the lamps are not cheap. Still use it occasionally with one of my consoles, mainly cinematic games or horror games like Heavy Rain on PS4, or Outlast- games that are more movie like just work so well. I never use it much for PC gaming, since mouse and keyboard is awkward without a desk- but anything using a controller is fine. But these days I use my monitor for most gaming.

If you have the money to burn through lamps and a dedicated room, then projectors are actually great giant gaming screens because of their generally fast response compared to large TV's- especially DLP projectors.

As for TV's, I don't own one and never have. I've never liked the bad input latency that current LCD TV's have. Though, that may change soon once the new Samsung TV's specifically aimed at gaming start coming out- 120hz, hdmi 2.1 with freesync on a TV- perfect for the next generation consoles or an Xbox One X. Not so sure for PC gaming though.
