I have a friend who recently moved to an area with terrible internet, so bad he can barely maintain a connection for checking email let alone major downloads or online gaming (three cheers for living in Australia, the land of awful internet). I am thinking of giving him Torchlight 2 since he loves that style of game and it supports offline play. Now for the questions;

What is the best way to gift it to him?

If I gift it to him will he need to create a GOG account since he doesn't currently have one?

Will he have to download it or can I download it for him on my good connection and take it round on a USB drive?

Thanks in advance.

Have him create an account, and gift it to him. Meanwhile (assuming you own the game as well), DL it onto a stick and give it to him. As long as he legally owns it on GOG, then there's no issue with doing it this way.

I do own a copy, but a Steam one that I bought a couple years ago. So I guess that's not going to work.

If you could easily do that, could he not just as easily log into GOG on your computer, download the game onto a stick and happily take it home?
He will need an account either way to receive a gift, yes.

I suppose that's a possibility. I was kinda hoping to make it a surprise when I dropped round. Rather than making him come here and set stuff up. If I was going to do that I'd just get him to bring his whole PC here and download it himself.

Thanks, I'll have a think about it a bit more.
Open an account for him and redeem the game in it, download and give him it in a USB stick.

That way if his internet connection would improve he already have a GOG account.

/facepalm

Such a simple solution. That should work perfectly. Can't believe I didn't think of it. Thanks!

Thanks for pointing that out. I thought of posting it after I first answered, but figured it was obvious. Should have known that someone not familiar with GOG's ways may not have considered that.
