mrkgnao: I believe (but I may be wrong) that it finds only those that got force-reduced to 40x40 a while back and were not reuploaded since. Mine is 150x150. Yours used to be bigger too, IIRC, but you apparently did not reupload.

yogsloth: Your original avatars are all there. Here's yours.
Thanks. Can you tell where (row, column) is Kasper's search it is located? I must have missed it.

Dunno. I use the old-fashioned method. Right click on any avatar (including one ones that have been replied to), open in a new tab, and erase the underscore and everything after it.

I was talking specifically about Kasper's google search term which searches only for 40x40 images.

Dessimu: I love this one! Thought I would give it a shot, so I did with a sharp marker by hand. My muses for inspiration were mqstout, wizisi2k (or any other "no avatar" bandit), Fictionvision, Grargar (Pawesome!), KiNgBrAdLeY7, Narakir, ElTerpise and lastly, chevkoch. I would like to think that my creation would fit in Star Wars movie, though when I added color... Well, lets say that wasn't me.
The way the palm tree is sticking out of the RayManCamel's Star Wars ass... that's all sorts of WRONG! :D

KasperHviid: by the way - I just figured out how to do an image search for GOG avatars:
https://www.google.com/search?q=site:gog.com&tbm=isch&tbs=isz:ex,iszw:40,iszh:40
Aha, that's super handy, thanks! I couldn't find myself, but I appear in the last row when searching for 49x49 instead:
https://www.google.com/search?q=site:gog.com&tbm=isch&tbs=isz:ex,iszw:49,iszh:49

I think I'll have to draw up some mashups myself, now!

I love it. Very handsomely done. I recognize four avatars immediately, and I'll hunt down the others this evening. I particularly like how the Bradley spiral fits in, and of course, the tail.

I totally understand about the coloring. I've obliterated several of my own pics with markers. At this point, I only use them for crosshatching to stop myself overwhelming the linework. Most often, if I need something colored, I do it digitally, though I still do the drawing itself on paper. Happily, you took an excellent in-progress photo!

edit:
Come to think of it, I even had a T-shirt printer semi-wreck a batch of shirts when he chose colors that were way too dark. This is despite the fact that I had specified (at his request) specific Pantone colors for each of the fills. Why'd he ask if he wasn't going to use them? If I can find the old shirt later I'll upload a pic. (Oh, and please don't think I'm bashing your own coloring. I'm only commiserating!)

Again, please create the images yourself. I'm not looking for existing internet images cobbled together.

KasperHviid: A good rule! Still, I hope it is okay that I post this, NOT as part of the competition, just random fun!
Wheeeeee! That's terrific. Random fun is always welcome, especially if it results in something nifty to look at! Plus, it's certainly in the spirit of the thread, thanks!

Rumor had it that the fella that started the mosaic craze used to drive around Cambridge in a Hummer with one-way bulletproof glass. I suppose selling millions of calendars allows one to be a lil' weird.

edit:
I certainly have more comments to catch up on, bunch. I will this evening.

Fairfox: I don't show up in any of those searches. What the heck.
Those searches are very partial. The first looks only for images that are 40x40, then second only for 49x49. Yours is 160x160.

Use it to your advantage. Become a spy.

Sorry, but the mighty palm tail just had to be there. No way around it and no way without it!

I am not skilled with digital making of the visual art, so I prefer hand made things. Though as the mashup shows, lack of skills is found there too. Well, at least I enjoyed doing it! And you can most definitely bash the coloring.

I would be interested to see the T-shirts though!

T'is amazing! You can do every avatar like that and open your own gallery!

This fun occasion could really use some more entries :)

Cheers for the fun GA, +1!

Looking forward to more entries, great fun to see what people come up with.

I'll throw my hat in, also serves as a way to bump this creative GA to the front page.

It shouldn't be difficult to figure out what is taken/inspired by whom. Only thing I'll say for now is that there's something from eight fellow GOGgers in there.

T'is awesome! Fun and awesome! If I wouldn't know what to expect, I'd say this is a cut out picture from a comic book. Who are they? Where are they going? What adventures are awaiting them? Where did they come from? Is that dino on something?

Do more, please.

Dessimu: Is that dino on something?
It's clearly on grass, enjoying it.

Haha, glad you liked it.

I got a rough idea about another one (not related to this one though), will see if it transforms into something fun.
