KasperHviid: by the way - I just figured out how to do an image search for GOG avatars:
https://www.google.com/search?q=site:gog.com&tbm=isch&tbs=isz:ex,iszw:40,iszh:40
Aha, that's super handy, thanks! I couldn't find myself, but I appear in the last row when searching for 49x49 instead:
https://www.google.com/search?q=site:gog.com&tbm=isch&tbs=isz:ex,iszw:49,iszh:49
I think I'll have to draw up some mashups myself, now!
Dessimu: I love this one! Thought I would give it a shot, so I did with a sharp marker by hand. My muses for inspiration were
mqstout,
wizisi2k (or any other "no avatar" bandit),
Fictionvision,
Grargar (Pawesome!),
KiNgBrAdLeY7,
Narakir,
ElTerpise and lastly,
chevkoch. I would like to think that my creation would fit in Star Wars movie, though when I added color... Well, lets say that wasn't me.
I love it. Very handsomely done. I recognize four avatars immediately, and I'll hunt down the others this evening. I particularly like how the Bradley spiral fits in, and of course, the tail.
I totally understand about the coloring. I've obliterated several of my own pics with markers. At this point, I only use them for crosshatching to stop myself overwhelming the linework. Most often, if I need something colored, I do it digitally, though I still do the drawing itself on paper. Happily, you took an excellent in-progress photo!
edit:
Come to think of it, I even had a T-shirt printer semi-wreck a batch of shirts when he chose colors that were way too dark. This is despite the fact that I had specified (at his request) specific Pantone colors for each of the fills. Why'd he ask if he wasn't going to use them? If I can find the old shirt later I'll upload a pic. (Oh, and please don't think I'm bashing your own coloring. I'm only commiserating!)
