Sogi-Ya: I was about to argue that they split back up, but then I looked it up and they didn't ... honestly, this deal sounds doomed to fail: AT&T owning both satellite TV providers will never pass the FCC & put them at risk for Anti-Trust investigations.
Time Warner acquired AOL and they split in 2009, maybe this is the case.
I'm most certain that Anti-Trust will get it a go for some reason (maybe because they approved other big deals lately).
As for the FCC I just read at deadline.com the following:
"They expect the deal to close by the end of next year following an antitrust review by the Justice Department. The FCC also likely will pay a role in the process although AT&T and Time Warner say that they are “currently determining which FCC licenses, if any, will be transferred to AT&T in connection with the transaction.”
Apparently it's too big to be denied ;)
