GT Interactive / Infogrames / 2001 acquisition of Hasbro Interactive? I played quite a few Hasbro Interactive games back in the day, but many are based on other IP (like the ones I grew up with - Frogger 1997, Frogger 2 Swampy's Revenge, Pac-Man Adventures in Time)

They are "in negotiations", nothing happened yet, and it might not even happen. We have to wait and see. Remember when several IPs were bought from Square-Enix? It took like 10 months to actually come through and it was way simpler than acquiring an entire company.
If it does happen, it will be bad mostly, since Atari can't put out anything other than nostalgia. That company is as some already express as joke, but in all seriousness: a skeleton.
And who knows, Night Dive Studios "might seem" like is doing ok but they could be on the verge of bankruptcy (specially after that huge bank crisis going on at the moment). Is it better for them to go under or to become a part of Atari?
Indeed, nothing good can come from this news.

Not only cursed, but utterly doomed, at least as far as System Shock 3 and potentially anything System Shock-related going forward (System Shock 4?) is concerned - as it's now owned by your friendly neighbourhood Chinese Communist Party.

If it is true it could be good news for a potential patch or some sort of polishing for Blood Fresh Supply port. I have the feeling that it is less polshed than other Nightdive titles

Ignoring all the stupid Web3/Crypto/Blockchain craziness/BS, it looks like the post-Infogrames incarnation of Atari is basically just milking the Rollercoaster Tycoon IP and (far) back catalogue of Atari. Weird seeing Blood on their list of games even though they don't seem to be doing much with it.
The question is whether Atari are sat on any properties that they're not touching (from the Infogrames/Hasbro days). They probably sold a lot during the insolvency (I saw that there's another incarnation of Microprose that has some of their old games).
I'm open minded so long as they don't get Nightdive working on some blockchain crap.

Nightdive had an ok rep with some inconsistency and neglect here or there, but they took a nosedive after Blade runner EE. This sale is not that surprising. Maybe Atari-in-name-only can source some licenses for them to work on, as I doubt they would get much further on their own. Not expecting anything from them though.

Yeah System Shock 3 development has been sold to Tencent and, as far as we know, it is going on, they've been quite tight lipped about it so it's hard to tell what's up with that.
What the did show before that was interesting though.

To be honest I don't think NDS are doing that well: their acquisition could be, and that's just my speculation, because of the SS rights which, again my opinion, they paid dearly for.
Remake disaster didn't help: many backers asked for refunds but NDS didn't agree and it might have been because of their financial situation, it would have instantly bankrupted them. The need for a publisher after the f*ckup could be another hint.
10$M doesn't look that far from the sole price of the IPs

But as usual with these type of mergers/acquisitions, we have to wait and see how things will go.
Wish them the best and hope that Nightdive Studios continues to do what they're good at. Hopefully nobody is laid off by this happening.

However, I imagine that something like that happening would mean that whoever works at Nightdive nowadays would bail out of the company in an instant.
