So, I just read in the news that Art Bell died. He was 72.

I remember working 3rd shift jobs (11pm to 7am) at various places in the 90s and his show (Coast to Coast AM) was usually on the radio. It was amusing entertainment for working during the long nights.
Thats a shame. I listen to Coast to Coast occasionally. I don't believe the stuff thats on that show, but it can still be an entertaining show, and there isn't much else worth listening to at that time of the night.

A bit of gaming trivia: Art Bell was playing on a radio in the original PREY.

+1 I agree with you 100%. Anyone who has ever had to be up all night working knows what a wasteland the radio and broadcast tv can be.

I didn't know that bit about Prey. Cool little trivia tidbit.
His wikipedia page is a hoot.

Guy was light a lightning rod for conspiracy theorists.

Granted some conspiracy theories have come true over the years....
I used to listen to his show late at night when I'd be outside stargazing. Made for some very spooky nights.

I used to sometimes put Coast to Coast AM on when I went to bed as sort of grown-up bedtime stories, but not since George Noory took over. It could be entertaining, especially with some of the nutters who called in.

Art Bell himself had even stated that he didn't believe in the topics, but he enjoyed thinking about and discussing them. It's sad that he's gone now but, as far as I know, he was a heavy smoker so it's not entirely surprising.

Oh and I knew that bit of trivia :) I stopped to listen to each broadcast when I came across them.
who?
That's too bad - I really liked Archie Bell and the Drells.
