Ixamyakxim: I have mixed feelings. I was always somewhat interested in the game, even after I learned there wasn't a single player campaign mode. When they announced the "change" I was even slightly optimistic they'd perhaps consider releasing some sort of campaign DLC (with maybe a story and some card rewards for advancing through different maps / boards). You know, as a way to placate DRM free supporters of the game as they took the "main" version of it in a paid microtransaction / always online sort of direction.
This is interesting. I didn't pay attention to any news pieces related to the game, and don't know a lot beyond some basic details. I did had the game in my wishlist as it left an initial good enough impression. So, now I know why it was really removed. They were thinking of turning it into a constant server-side, micro-transaction, pay-as-you-go along kind of model. It does not take a genius to see how badly that would clash with a DRM-Free model. I love and purposely shop at GOG, as I'm assured of getting my single-player games without controllative DRM/DRM-models. Armello certainly isn't cutting it here.

I also don't why they are even attempting to do this. I remembered Steamspy writing some article, saying that if you think you can just create any "free-to-play"/micro-transaction/subscription type model, and expect it to be a fantastic cash-grab like some of the other big-wigs, think again. You know, truth to be told, I've kind of even forgotten the existence of this game.

fables22: Here's a link to the thread that I made about the removal on the EN forums: https://www.gog.com/forum/armello/armello_drm_free_edition_removal.

The EN post was in the Armello game specific forum for a couple hours now.

Wishbone: What's the point of only posting it to the people who already own the game? That seems counter-productive at best.
If people can't be bothered to regularly check every subforum to take an interest in potentially discontinued games that's their own regard.

Apathetc bloody forum, I've no sympathy at all.

Painted_Doll: Which game is next ?
I would bet my money on those old Telltale games here like Secret of Monkey Island, or SBCGFAP(was bored to write the full name :p),because of the licences which should be nearing termination period.Screamer 4x4 is also a pickle. The game released back in 2000 if i'm not mistaken, and the car licences for some reason still hold up.... Don't get me wrong.I really love the fact that we got so many cool, old licenced games. It's just weird ;).Cheers

Oh, freddled gruntbuggly...
Finally! This rubbish is finally going away from GOG. As far as DRM-Free support goes, these devs so far have been the worst.

groze: Get rid of this one, while you're at it. GOG shouldn't be selling this crap.
How came 3 years later it's still here‽

Did gog remove it or the game devs ?

Tbh it kinda saddens me the devs never bothered with the gog version of the game and we got to this point, even more so considering it was a B-day gift from a friend of mine back in the day :(

Do they offer refunds for it or something ?

3 years latter? I don't think so.

Oh no, I forgot to celebrate the anniversary!

The game has been removed from sale, not from your account. However, given the way the devs screwed GOG customers over, refunds were definitely justified. From what I remember, GOG did offer refunds around the time the game was removed... not so sure they'd give you one now though.

Also gotta love this segment from Wikipedia:

"Though they had planned on offering the content to all users since the Kickstarter, including those with DRM-free versions of the game as through GOG.com, League of Geeks found that being able to support the content on the DRM-free platform was a task beyond their resources. Co-found Trent Kusters stated "given infinite resources and time we could undertake the task of rewriting the underlying architecture at the core of this decision, but that's straight up not feasible for a vast number of reasons that are unique to [League of Geeks], Armello, where we're standing right now and where we see Armello's future."

That excuse sure seems out of the window when they keep pumping out so much content on the Steam version, isn't it ?
