tfishell: Hmmm, it's an old game and has probably been pirated a lot by now. So why isn't it here? Hmm...

DadJoke007: Pirated? How? The DRM is in place, it's not possible. Is it?

Only played Knight and City up to now. Own Origins, so I'll get round to that one day. Never actually played Asylum, but I think after playing Knight and City, Asylum would seem too simplistic.

Loved Knight, btw!
Damn, I remember when they had it playing in those sidebar console demos.

Asylum absolutely is the most simplistic. Each game following built on the mechanics while increasing the size of the world and making Batman more fluid in control and interaction with the environment.

It is still a fantastic game and feels a bit like... Die Hard. You're stuck on a small island going through a single night seeing the 'battle damage' and toll on Batman. Part of the smaller scale is an advantage too. No other Batman game feels like a Metroidvania as much as the original (it was inspired by them after all). It was my first so I really couldn't give you any sort of accurate advice on whether you'd enjoy it coming off the others or not. I do think it has the weakest story of the main entries, still delivered with top notch production values though.

A minor complaint too as someone unfamiliar with Batman beyond the movies and games, you find loads of Biographies of characters and enemies that make NO appearance in Asylum, but basically spoil their appearances in following games. Hush was an awesome character, imho, with a great intro in City that was... not as impactful having read his reasonings in Asylum in a bio!

I haven't played Knight, but of the rest I think Asylum has the best atmosphere. As funs as being "out on the town" was in the later games, I think being confined to the actual Arkham Asylum taken over by the inmates was probably the best setting of them all.
To op: I LOVED Arkham Asylum and have Arkham City/etc on the backburner.......Hamill and all the other VAs(like the ones for riddler and batman/harley quinn/etc) were awesome, and the setpieces and combat were pretty good.

It is definitely an awesome series, and I hope GOG eventually gets it as I feel the diehard anti-drm crowd need to play it if they are batman fans or fans of the genre in general.

M3troid: Asylum is a good game, but to me it has 2 problems:

It's too short.
The same bosses over and over again (except Poison Ivy).
For the sale price it is well worth it, though. :)
I didn't realize it but 2019 also marks the 30th anniversary of the movie that got me into Batman in the first place...

Call me crazy, but I actually liked Nicholson's Joker a bit better than Ledger's. Don't get me wrong... Ledger's Joker was awesome... but Nicholson felt closer to the source, looked the part and was way more menacing than he was given credit for.

This year ALSO marks the 80th anniversary of Batman with his first appearance in 1939!

Going back and forth between Arkham Knight single player and Arkham Asylum Challenge Mode. With some downloads you can play the exclusive Joker Challenge Mode DLC on PC which is very cool.

Heh, I actually bought it myself last Steam summer sale. Ten years late but there's lot of games that I missed when I'm on hiatus from playing PC games.

But like other games that I bought with my own money it still untouched as I prioritize games that I've gifted.
I still have the DVD. It's an awesome game.
