Which has faster downloads of the game files: GOG Galaxy or Steam?

IMHO, GOG Galaxy gets better as time goes by. No more hiccups, no more often failed downloads, etc... How is your experience?
For me its mostly GOG that's faster, often getting the full speed here while being stuck at 8-9MB/s on Steam.
I can't compare since I don't use Steam.

GOG has become better, a lot - it's obviously a priority for them to keep things smooth. Although I never had many problems...

ignisferroque: stuck at 8-9MB/s on Steam.
same here, not sure if this country isp is doing shit to it aswell
No comparison and I don't really care either.

Be nice if GOG offered torrents like Humble Bundle, though.
For me the winner is always Steam.
I think it is region-related.
I get exactly the same 1.2 Mbytes/sec download speed on both. No clear winner, only losers.
What happens when we pour GOG Downloader into the mix? Or has that become a bit old?
In my region, Steam is fastest, then the GOG Downloader, then Galaxy at the bottom. When it comes to updates, Downloader can't update at all, but don't forget that Galaxy insists on doing a file check before running any updates, which can take ages if you have a large library (why that is when it should only be checking the files for the one game, I can't imagine).

Also, both of GOG's tools seem to hog all the bandwidth and prevent other programs from accessing the internet at all. Steam does this from time to time but GOG does it almost universally, I have to run my GOG downloads while I'm doing something offline as a consequence.

both with about 15MB/s here - can't really tell the difference
I can't say about Steam, I don't use Galaxy, but I get full speed when downloading from GOG using a browser (which I guess is the same that downloading using Galaxy), no complaints about that at all.
I dunno about Steam. But I have noticed that GOG Galaxy downloads are faster than their `back up` downloads.

Make of that what you will.
For me (Copenhagen/Denmark) its mostly GOG that's faster, often getting the full speed 50 Mbits.
On Steam it's varying from 2 Mbits to 50 Mbits
