I have waited for quite a while before commenting on the new web "design" but I guess that by now I have to realize that all hopes for them (gog.com) turning back to their old or at least a more useful design are in vain. Whenever they do something stupid, it unfortunately takes more than just a little while before things (maybe) will be better or improved again.
For me the login function on the frontpage is gone (using somewhat modified versions of firefox and palemoon as browsers, with nasty add- and script blockers, etc. this may - at least be partly - be my own fault. Although before the redesign everything worked perfectly!). So I have to use
login.gog.com
for now.... OK, I can live with that. Although sometimes when the much hated captcha is not shown (probably because of my script blockers, but why bother at all with that sh*t?) and I get a message that I have not filled in the (not seen) captcha correctly I really just want to turn away for the day... no gog.com today...
After logging in I have to go to the general community page to see my user account on the top right of the browser to access my games library or other functions. On the front page I see only store - about - community - support. Then nothing... and after a while in the top right corner the shopping cart - which I will probably not use that often anymore because I will rarely bother to "browse" the new page for new games or even sales.
The design is not just outright ugly it is a complete mess. It's hard to find where things are now and on top of that they have included the horrible windows 8 tiles style that now has become so widley used in M$ programs, sorry, you have to call them "apps" these days, even though they are in the end still, ahem, well programs...
Somebody here asked if gog customers believe that the new website design will have a (negative) impact on sales. I am quite sure that it does and will do so! I used to come here almost every day or second day when I had a few minutes time to check updates in my games library and look for sales or new releases. Now I have to ask myself if it is worth my time to spend a few minutes logging in to gog.com and look at the mess the site has become...
By the way one of the best ways to see gog news now is - at least for me -this url which was posted in another thread
