TheSaint54: I had one pre-ordered but cancelled before mine was shipped based on the reviews I read (i.e.- feels cheap, not a good substitute for K&M, takes a long time to get used to it, and customization can be tedious as one has to "generally" make a custom setup for each game).

I have still somewhat kept-up with the controller and am still waiting for a good way to customize games outside of Steam.

Perhaps Steam Controller 2 will allow it? That is if they have made enough fans of this one to even make a controller #2.
As far as I'm aware the software for it is still in beta mode so you never know. Anyway those reviews were the same reason I didn't buy one day one. I regret that decision lol. Playing the shit out of Bioshock with this thing. It feels soo good.

Will you let me use your *steam controller", hun? I want to try new things and experiment... If it is with you, even Steam is okay...

Hahaha! I am glad to know I made your wallet suffer. Mwhaha!

Seriously though, plug and play can work for games that take a 360 controller but I would do a little bit of reading first just to get an idea on what you're in for in terms of configuration. It's not as difficult as it looks especially if you know what to expect. Also the Steam forum for the controller can be quite insightful if you have any questions about the thing. :D

This is cool! Just got home and opened it. So far the only game I played with it is WoW (running a custom launcher on Linux through Native Steam playing on WINE, It works in WINE!). It handled this KB/M game perfect. Can't wait to try out more games.

And it also works perfect as a mouse on the desktop, I love this thing :D

That is a very positive first impression. Sounds like you're a kid on Christmas (like I was lol).
low rated
Only when I'm ironing.
I will wait until v2 or v3 before I get interested. I barely use the controllers I already have.
does this ssteam controller only work on/with ssteam?

As far as Im aware the software is not finished yet so yes. But god knows what'll happen in the future. You can play games if you add them to the Steam program.

Considering how long ago that was, I'm not even going to watch it. From what Iv been told quite frequently is the thing has improved considerably since initial release.

Considering it was only 2,5 months ago, watching it wouldn't cause you any harm, considering that the controller hasn't changed at all in that time.

But the client and features have changed plenty in such a short time.

Well yes but in that near three months, every review came from "it's crap and hype" to "This is actually quite good" haha. I have already watched quite a few before I made my purchase. The more time people gave to it (and the updated drivers etc) the more they liked it.
