Any Sherlock Holmes video game fans have an idea why all of Frogwares Sherlock Holmes games are on GOG (including their last Sherlock game The Devil's Daughter) except for...

Crimes & Punishments?

I was glad to find out Frpgwares latest game The Sinking City is coming to GOG, but why still no Crimes & Punishments?
I do have an idea; different publisher, the bane of all GOG collectors. Thankfully, said publisher (Focus Home Interactive) has started releasing games again after a small hiatus of just 4 years, so I wouldn't be surprised if we see Crimes & Punishments sometime soon.
Actually, they're also missing the first one. Which... well it isn't a disaster... because Curse of the Mummy pretty much is a disaster. Probably the worst adventure game I've ever played (which is saying something as I'll put up with some pretty janky adventures). Thankfully they learned from their mistakes. :P

Many thanks.

Yes, I was unaware the series had been through different publishers. I'd just figured Focus Interactive had published all of them, but... indeed C&P is the last Focus Sherlock Holmes release. Yeah, hopefully with Sinking City releasing here soon C&P will follow.

I didn't find it that bad. It did entertain me for a day or two. For those who want to try it, it's free on Steam, btw.
The thing is Sherlock Holmes is in the public domain, and anybody who wants to makes a Holmes game can do so legally.
it's not really franchise since there are no rights involved. A lot of the Holmes games listed in the Missing Games thread here are from different publishers and really have nothing in common except they involve Holmes. I think that thread is bit misleading in that regard. In some cases, it's not a case of a game series going from one publishers to another, but companies with competing Holmes games series.

About 33% of the problem was the English localisation, so if you played in French perhaps that bit wasn't so bad? Some of the puzzles were borderline broken though, particularly in the latter chapters. It's like they had a lot of testers for the start of the game and none by the end.

Misleading? How?

Maybe someone didn't read my post?
