I realized today there is a big reeason why gog connect can be useful.
It appears sometimes the gog version of a game has less problems. I am playing Bloodrayne on steam(sold on gog too)and i have an issue where cutscenes are too fast and dialogues are cut off. I have a bunch of fixes to apply, but if i was using gog exe file i would have no problem.
So now i am hoping bloodrayne will be among the next steam games to be eligible on gog, so that i can download the gog exe file which is better.
