As you may know, not long ago GamezRanker had been banned for a week for "questioning moderation".

He has now been banned again, this time for two weeks. so if you are waiting for a reply for him, please be patient.

Those of you who have a love of irony, will probably take joy in considering the reason for which he has been banned this time around.

It was for "rep manipulation".

Sounds rather unfair, to put it mildly...banned for "rep manipulation", that's really something given the context.
I don't know what's going on behind the scenes, but I really hope he's not going to be banned permanently.

Maybe they mean he was using bots to downvote and/or upvote other profiles, or even his own.

So, contrary to what that quoted post is implying, him having a low rep does not in any way necessarily mean he is automatically innocent of "rep manipulation."

The OP and/or GOG should be more clear though, as for whether he was rep manipulating himself, or others, or both, and whether he was manipulating rep in a positive or negative way.

He does not claim to be "innocent".

To quote his own words:
"i was told that rep manipulation wasn't being moderated (by mod ponczo), so i gave myself a few rep points via question threads, and they banned me".

Get rid of the rep system permanently and people can truly speak their minds as I have without fear of retaliation from other members who simply don't like your opinion.

Although perhaps he is, also & additionally, guilty of more rep manipulation that what he happened to admit to in that post, and maybe he is simply omitting the other times he did it?

I'm not saying that is the case, rather I'm just speculating that it could be a possibility.

Someone should ask him directly how many times, exactly, he has ever engaged in the behavior of "rep manipulation."

Having the forum ridden with bots that downrep everyone is fine and the team does fuck all to prevent it. A dude does a half-joke thing and suddenly it is a bannable offense.

Maybe, and I say maybe, you should reconsider your priorities, GOG? Just saying.

I'm the Staff member who issued the warnings and bans to GamezRanker. We are not at liberty to discuss why a user has been banned, but rest assured we don't ban users for "rep abuse". As we said in the past, we have no way to track the rep, and we don't moderate based on a user's rep usage. When we decide to warn/ban a user, we always quote the rules of the Code of Conduct that were violated.

We will be closing this thread, as these things shouldn't be discussed in public. Feel free to reach out to me or other Staff members via PM if you have any questions or doubts.
