I've been playing 1701 off and on for the last two years up to this point have I ever had this problem until now.

Over the last two months maybe it would make the keyboard stop functioning but only after playing for a few hours then it would function normally. I haven't played since maybe September until yesterday when I went into the game, I had just gotten into the game when my keyboard was locked out. I tried ending and then restarting the game twice but both times its as if I wasn't playing with a keyboard at all.

I had to reboot my laptop to restore my keyboard functions. Anyone know what causes this or had this problem with your keyboard when playing any of the Anno games? I'm also using a mouse not a trackpad, its not affecting the mouse only the keyboard. Its not only losing function just in the game but when I try to use my browser it won't type. Only starts working again after a full reboot.

I had a similar problem once, not with Anno 1701, but in general, I had to reset my computer and that solved the problems.

Thats just what I did too but every time I turn on the game it seems to automatically lock out my keyboard.

It's really strange, I haven't found anything related online, so far you are the only one with this problem or this report, have you tried with an external keyboard?

Don't have one unfortunately... I Just don't understand why it does that, maybe it has something to do with a configuration file. Recently I just figured out why I haven't been able to play Mortal Kombat Trilogy the keyboard was turned off in the config file. I'll check that might just need an adjusting.

Try to get one, maybe is related with the drivers of your laptop's keyboard.
