I was under the impression that this indie publisher had a good track record and I was even hoping to see their cat game, Stray, come here to GOG some time in the future. The news jolted me, while simultaneously not fully surprising me... :(

Some articles I stumbled upon concerning the news:

I admit that this story surprised me. I am sure that we will hear more details coming out about the situation in the future, but the fact that every single employee quit feels close to unprecedented I think. Especially due to the fact the the current job market in the video game industry is not the hottest that its ever been. Maybe they intend to start an independent publisher (and have gotten a handshake deal with someone for startup costs)?
Nah, no crisis. It was simple. They wanted to spin off, the owner of Annapurna Pictures said no, Games/Interactive said, "You have no studio now" and peaced out. Probably taking a good amount of money, assets, and such to form a new studio.
Cause for concern for sure, Annapurna has published masterpieces like What Remains of Edith Finch, Florence, Journey, Outer Wilds, Sayonara Wild Hearts, and many other great games. They're one of those publishers who have a distinct essence, and it'd definitely suck to see them lose it or disappear.

btw, still hoping to see more of Annapurna here on gog :_(
What Remains of Edith Finch was a beautiful game. Haven't played many of their others.
Even though it probably wouldn't have got a (day-1) release on GoG I was still interested to see how Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth would turn out.
Too bad.

Although:

"Existing contracts are being honored and the company is now in the process of filling open positions with new hires or third-party companies."

In the process, they maybe are going to remember that GoG exists and finally release a couple more, if not all of their currently missing titles here.

Not sure why anyone would be worried for them. They wanted to separate the Games Publishing arm from the movie company, and the head didn't accept, so they resigned (and will presuably start their own separate publishing company.

The games that were previously published by them still comes under Anapurna, so if some of them weren't being released here before for some reason, hopefully with new management, they might.

I've got to admit, I don't really have much love (or care or knowledge) for games publishers, as opposed to studios, so I don't really care what this new break-off publisher will do. Hopefully continue to publish good games, I suppose.
Since Annapurna stopped releasing their games here, I didn't care about them anymore.

So did this studio get to keep their game IPs even though they left the parent company?

I logically thought that their "master" still has all those IPs, but they just wanted to leave the company for some reason, and like suggested, probably create a new studio/publisher with the same people, probably called Purra-arna Interactive or something.

If they got to keep their game IPs (like someone suggested, but to me sounds odd), maybe they are willing to release their other games here too, in case it was the parent company that for some reason resisted that.

No ideas about this company. But when this happens, its usually a simple rebrand to dodge credit and bank companies. In short, they pop up later under a new company name to avoid paying what they owe.

If only it were this easy to get rid of individual debt :)

Anapurna is/was not a studio, it is a publisher. And I don't see how all the people who left would have kept any of the IPs, that still belongs to Anapurna.
Publishers matter less every day. And if they refuse to publish their games on GOG, I really couldn't care less about whether they're losing all their staff or not.
I was really hoping we would get "Stray" here.
