Licurg: That doesn't have a lot of gore at all .

dragonbeast: what about hellsing ultimate or evangelion at times?
Yeah, Hellsing is gory. Evangelion, not so much .

Compared to what I usually watch - not really :

Been on the anime trail lately. Blasted through Baccano!, FLCL, Welcome to the NHK, Haruhi, and I Can't Understand What My Husband is Saying thus far. Chilling on Kill la Kill for now, Eden of the East is afterwards, though I'm looking for something to watch intermittently with KlK.

I've also got a sort of fandom related question. Is Anime News Network at all a good site, or is it just the most popular out there? It certainly doesn't seem like Kotaku levels of awfulness, I'm just looking to see what options are out there for discussion platforms.
still looking for an anime on the level of gundam 00

You watched Gundam Unicorn? My friend just rewatched it, apparently.
I know some good ones, Escaflowne, Cowboy bebop, Tsukihime and Erementar Gerad (very different from the manga but is very well ended)
Just finished watching Blood Reign, and it was disappointing . I wasn't expecting much, but I was at least hoping for a gorefest, but they didn't even deliver on that...

I recently watched Blood Reign too and was also disappointed.

But then again I was also disappointed by Violence Jack and Genocyber which you recommended. Genocyber is (IMHO) a pretentious pile of crap with the gore scenes being the only good thing about it but they were too few and far between. That series was actually pretty boring and sleep-inducing.

And Violence Jack... well, that wasn't so bad but I did expect more after the 2:16 clip you linked here. But it turned out that this clip contained most of the good scenes of the entire series already. Let's face it, there is more gore in the first 7 minutes of the first episode of Elfenlied than in the entire Violence Jack series.

If you think that Violence Jack is more gory than Elfenlied you must have watched a version that was totally butchered by censors.

Nope, watched the uncensored one . Violence Jack is more gory because the gore is more realistic. With some exceptions, most of the gore scenes in Elfen Lied are just made up of blood bombs, no guts, no shattered bones, nothing .

And you just sound like the kind of person who can't appreciate Genocyber...

Go for Shigurui next .
I was kind of partial to the "The Devil is a Part-Timer!". :)

well, in my opinion the story of Genocyber is exelent, but it has moments where the violence is more a kind of fan service than a part of the story being boring in some moments. but the most of the time is exciting.

Shigurui next reamember me one manga I had read long time ago. it's called Ichi the killer, the story is exelent, is little gorish but it is a good manga , I think you will like it, I reccomend it to you. :P

I've seen Ichi the Killer - The manga, the anime and the movie as well . Loved all of them :D Still, Shigurui is far more brutal .
Just finished Sankarea . Not bad, but not for me - a mixture of ecchi, comedy, romance and horror . I was expecting necrophilia, but that didn't happen...
Finished Full Metal Alchemist and the movie, since I actually actively avoided it when it was on Toonami. Very interesting storytelling techniques and overall tale, but I don't think I love it as much as others do. Still, it kept me intrigued and eager to learn more. I'll watch Brotherhood in a couple months, I say.
