Crosmando: So I'm wondering, didn't any of the ancient Greeks try to climb to the top of Mount of Olympus, to see if the Gods really were up there?
Really now? Does name "Aphrodite" ring a bell? Or the satyr god, Pan, drinking wine and banging women? People back then were simple and practical; gods had human qualities, desires, weaknesses and... Habits!
Religious mysteries were very pleasurable, especially those whose lore has been lost down the ages.
Civilization flourished because people loved sexuality and anointed it to the ART and CULTURES status!
After christianity broke out round these parts, everything went down the drain, from letters to arts, to civilization, to culture, to war feats, to virtuous political leaders!
I would rather believe into Zeus and live in a superpower, rather than believe into an imported jewish fabrication which only brought to the world dark ages, inquisition, medieval mindsets and cultural corrosion at all levels.
