Imagine this:

The game, at first place, appears to be a metroidvania. 2D sidescroller, open world (to some degree), abilities you get that let you explore further, and other characteristics associated with this genre. Sounds good, right? Except...

Traps. The game is as full of traps as something like Syoban Action or I Wanna Be The Guy. (Note that, unlike the latter, this game is a true metroidvania, and you do get new abilities.) Basically, as you try to explore, you encounter a lot of traps that, at best. force you to go a different way. Some of those traps can be quite dangerous, making you fall far away from where you need to be, or causing you to fall into that big deadly lava pit. Some are even worse; trigger the trap and you're softlocked and have to open the menu and reload your last save (a fate worse than death). Yes, having to reload your last safe file because you fell into a trap is expected in this game.

Then, you reach parts where the game changes genre. When you enter certain areas, the game changes into a bullet hell shoot-em-up. These sections play like real bullet hell games, with tons (somethime hundreds at a time) bullets to dodge, the player having a small hit box, and the difficulty usually associated with the genre. If you aren't good at these games, you are going to have a hard time here. Also, these sections are mandatory. (I haven't decided if these sections would have traps.)

Would you play an evil game like this?
No.

I can't play as a Dwarf from the sounds of it.

Fix that ;)

Linko90: No.

Well, maybe you can. I haven't specified what the main character would be; perhaps a bearded Dwarf lady could work.

If that were done, would you be interested *now*?
Dude, by the word evil I thought at first you were referring to some dark stuff.

No, though I have heard of it, but I don't know what the game is like.

Incidentally, I did happen to think of another game idea, one that isn't so evil. To summarize, it's like a 2D metroidvania with an overworld and dungeons (think something like Castlevania 2 or Wonder Boy 3), except that there are random turn-based RPG-style battles between rooms, and the bosses are fought in that turn-based style.
Lost me at 2D sidescroller.
You mean a game like this
that becomes like that? :-)
